HEXBUGVEX Robotics Tombstone

My son was disappointed that the spinner bar was blue on the box, but we were pleased to see the parts inside to make a red one. So bonus points for them to include what you need to build two different weapons and choose what to employ.Easy enough build for any age group, just need a level of dexterity for handling the tiny washers they use.They do a good job of the gearing inside so the weapon spins in the one direction regardless of which way the tires spin. Even has a differential so you can pivot without breaking anything.Nice representation of the bot. Great for any battlebots fan.

This Tombstone toy is a good scale model of the real thing (I got to see the real one at upclose one time). The build is intricate but with the instructions it's simple enough to follow along. There's a really cool one way clutch/rectifier type mechanism that translates the wheels movement into the blades. I wish there were toys this cool when I was kid to learning about mechanics and engineering.I got both the Minotaur and Tombstone to build (hoping they come out with a Bronco one) and they're a great pair to battle it out with. Both are very well build and worth the price.

The instructions are clear and easy to understand. Finished model is great. Built it together with my 8 year old. He loves to hit disposable plastic cups with the blade. We had one piece that was incorrect. I called them and I was very impressed. They shipped us the correct piece right away. Be sure to open it up and look at everything before you start. There was a modification (added later) in one of the steps that would have taken us longer to complete; had we missed. If you are thinking about purchasing this Tomb Stone model; do it. It is a lot fun to build and use!

We were expecting it to have a motor in it, especially because of the price. It does not. My son has had fun putting it together, but pushing it around the floor to make it work isn't so fun for him. (He is a teenager.) He did take a motor from another building toy and did make it work. He had a lot more fun with it then.

Got this and the Minotaur for a back to school gift. It's kept my nephews occupied and they seem to be really enjoying the construction.
