Very Solid materials. Can hold huge canvas,and you can put a reference photo in the top.This will serve very well, it is not overly heavy but is very stable.Cons: The directions to put it together really sucked. They were printed on really cheap paper that disintegrated, and the diagrams were poor and did not not any close up details of parts so you could figure out how to orient them. Nor were the parts numbered. So it was a chore to figure out which of the parts (which all looked alike in the crappy drawings) were which.Mine had a defective weld inside one tube that I had to take a rotary file to to clear before I could assemble it.However when done it is a good easel, heavy duty and should last about forever.

I was looking for a smaller footprint easel to replace my heavy awkward wood easel. After searching around, I bought this easel due to the single mast which enables it to be placed very near the drawing board to reach things. It was perfect and stable. I do paint on smaller canvases no larger than 18 x 24 and have no trouble with issues. It is very easy to adjust the height and tilt with a knob. Highly recommend.

I use it to hold an upright glass palette next to my easel. And am very happy with it.
