Mazda MX-5 Miata 2016 New OEM door sill trim plates (set of 2) Genuine accessories

There are several other cheaper options for these scuff plates available here on Amazon and other sites but none others even claim to be OEM. I was hesitant to spend more but wanted to make sure I got quality, and this one seems to be genuine. It came with instructions, the masking cutouts, the adhesive promoter, alcohol wipes, and the plates themselves nicely packaged. I highly recommend removing the 2 panels from your car (they just pop right off) and doing the installation inside. This way you can work at any angle you want and take your time to be precise. As others said, the cutouts are very hard to use since they come folded and are thin after cutting them out. The main one you need is the small one that just aligns the end of the plate with the corners of the plastic door sill. That one is integral and easy to tape on. The large piece is used to create a mask to apply the adhesive promoter, and that one is very difficult to get on straight… not a big deal though. As long as you have a rough area of the outside you can apply it where the adhesive will hit. I’ve never used adhesive promoter before the sponges seemed rather dry. Either way, the adhesive seemed very strong once I affixed the piece. I spent a few mins pressing the edges into the plastic and flexing the plastic out a bit to adhere well, and that was it! They look awesome… time will tell if they hold up. If you don’t read any updates to this review you can assume they’re still holding strong and looking good :)

The plates themselves are amazing. They look great and I am very happy with the results.As the other reviews say, the templates are useless. First of all, the ones I received were printed on standard 8.5x11 paper and were therefore not at all the correct scale. So I did some math to properly place the plates and then traced them with a pen. I then used the traced outline and masked slightly inside the lines with masking tape. The adhesion promoter will mess up the appearance of the plastic, so you want to be careful not to apply it outside of the outline while still getting as close to the edge as possible.Anyway, install took about 30 minutes total. Knocked one star for the useless templates, but results look great so far!

These look really nice and seem to be firmly attached. However, I recommend you don't use the templates that are shipped with this. The templates are clumsy to use and are too loose. You really don't want the adhesive promotor to leak outside the edge of where the plate will be! I just used masking tape and it worked just fine.FWIW:- tape the plate in place- carefully put masking tape around the edges- try to slide the tape about 1/16 to 1/8 inch under the plate. - remove the plate- very carefully apply the adhesive promoter - this can make a mess if you get it anywhere but under wherethe plate will be!- let it dry- remove tape but put a few new tape pieces in place as a guide for attaching the plate- using the tape guides - hold the plate just above the sill and carefully press into place- push down as hard as possible and slid your hands from the middle to the ends- make sure all the edges are pressed down

I have a 2018 MX5 club and these fit perfect. Most of the template provided is useless except for the portion that sits toward the front of the kick plate. Take your time aligning and prepping before application.

They were pretty easy to install and they look great. They were a little on the expensive side, but worth it I think

Very nice addition to the already cool interior of the MX-5. Word of caution however- make sure you test fit the plates and mark the exact location. Once applied, not coming off without damage to the plate and plastic.

These look great. Construction and materials are superb. Haven't got any damage on These yet, so durability is looking good. Careful on installation though, don't accidentally swap the two or misalign. Clean the surfaces very well ... it's not an easy install, but looks great.
