daily use toy!
(This is the same review for all sets in the same Tonka set) I bought like 4 sets for my 3 year old for christmas. they did what they said. durable cars. Some cars and sets work better then others, but they all work. we connected 4 or 5 sets together in a huge loop and palyed for at least an hour with my 3 yr old not asking for my help every 2 sec. this is why i rated the toy so high. I want to be able to play if I want/have to, but I want a toy that works without me too so I can play with my own toys from Santa. I'm writing the same review for all the sets I bought, by the way.

2.5 yr old is infatuated
Pretty cool little idea. It's sort of a cause and effect thing- the little motorized truck is placed on one end and you watch it go through all of these hanging bridges and flips and stuff. 2.5 yr Kid loves. Also, you can buy other pieces and mix and match them for a custom design.

Defective and discontinued... buyer beware
I gritted my teeth and bought this for my Chuck-obsessed son for his 5th birthday, since it was the only thing he really wanted. I'd already bought him Boomer's Flippin' Fire Rescue for Christmas. On Christmas morning when we popped some batteries in Boomer, nothing happened. I called Hasbro and they suggested Energizer alkaline batteries- no other brand. This seemed ridiculous, but sure enough, when I bought some Energizer batteries, they worked. The kiddo was super excited to get "Handy's Timin' Bridge," as he calls it, for his birthday, but once again, when we popped the batteries in Handy, nothing. So despite having a large value pack of Duracell AAs on hand, I went out and bought a 4-pack of Energizer batteries, and this time it did not do the trick. I called Hasbro, and they said that normally they would just send me a new one, but they discontinued this line in 2012, so I was out of luck. (Tonka products are now licensed to a different company.) I called Amazon and my options were 1. return the set for a full refund or 2. keep it for a half refund. I opted for #2, since my son has one functional truck to use and would be loathe to part with the Handy set, but I am really not happy, and he is going to be pretty disappointed. :(

disappointed
Really disappointed in this toy. It is properly assembled, but only completes the entire ramp without getting stuck or falling off about 25% percent of the time. My son however thinks it is funny when it falls off. The truck is a little louder that anticipated. He does like to just watch the truck push the rock ball around.Wouldn't recommend it @ the original price, but Amazon has it on sale right now.

what the heck is the boulder for?
So i bought this for my nephew and while it does do some cool stuff, it doesnt always work right, the trucks get stuck and they sometimes fall off the tracks. i had my 4 nieces and my wife trying to figure out what the hell the boulder did or what it was for and we couldnt figure it out. The plastic on this is pretty flimsy.

Doesn't quite line up right
My son (5) got his first section of this Chuck & Friends set for Christmas (the Chuck part) & was immediately in love with it. He worked very hard & saved his money to buy the Handy section all on his own. He absolutely loves it, this set is what he plays with the most out of all of his toys. It has provided hours of fun & imaginative play. He had the little story book that came with this section memorized after the first time reading it. The only negative thing I can think of is that we can't quite get it to line up right so Handy (and the other trucks) flip up & go through the hanging part of the bridge all on their own. Every time my son has to "help" the trucks get on the bridge, otherwise they crash. We've checked the instructions, checked online, tried to rearrange how we've assembled it... We just can't get it to work. But my son has worked it into his play & it hasn't created a big fuss.
