Gatekeeper: World of Folly by Hunt Slonem Hardcover – 1 May 2018

I have never seen a poorer job in the binding of a book! After the first reading the book literally fell apart! Unacceptable for the price of this item!

Not a dull page. Lots of beauty in these pages. And COLOR! Such imaginative creativity!

Had to return due to book already damaged.

Yes, yes, yes! Slonem is. Genius.

A visual feast for sure, but I am glad I did not pay full price for this book! I really liked the maximalist vibe and will definitely refer back to this as reference for the fearless use of color. I would have liked to know more about the individual pieces — why were some of them deemed worthy of inclusion in this collection? Beautifully photographed but trying to make sense of the captions was quickly tedious. They appeared every several pages or so - sometimes referring to previous pages and others to subsequent pages. Would have been so much better to have unobtrusive captions on each page. Also — if you think this is a book you can curl up with on a chair with a fire and glass of wine, guess again. It is big and heavy and most easily viewed sitting at a table. A wonderful artist and interesting collection, but a so-so book and reading experience.
