AFI Southampton Twin XL Murphy Bed Chest with Mattress, Storage, and Built-in Charger in Grey

I’m impressed with the design and quality of the materials. All five boxes arrived with no visible outside damage. One panel one the inner side of the base was split but I was able to apply gorilla glue and attached the cube side extension that had bolts on both side of that board holding it securely flat so it wasn’t a problem. Took me about four hours to unpack and assemble alone. We’re very happy with it.

Purchased for guest room, wanted something that could be put away while not in use. Delivered 5 boxes in total, some very heavy. Took about 2 hrs to assemble between me and my adult son (and we have experience putting things together). Issue is that none of the parts or hardware are labeled. Would have gone faster if they were. Bed seems comfortable, will have to update once guest sleeps on it. Have to say the cabinet was very dusty and some small scratches. Although heavy it’s not made of high quality wood. Again will have to see how it goes.

Besides needing a good cleaning, very pleased. Hope they give workers face mask & eye protection in the factory. Assembly very straight forword. Appears very sturdy.

The bad:The paint was spotty and uneven. The hinge was busted and cracked. NONE of the pieces were labeled. My best guess is they sent me a used product. There is no way contact these folk to air my complaint. If they gave me 20% of because they sent me a scratch and dent open box item I'd be happy.What could be good: If I overlook that this did not appear new...it was easy to put together, all mechanical parts work perfectly, and the price was right.The feel:I tried it out(135lbs 5,6 girl) with a friend about the same size. It held us fine, but it made concerning creaking sounds. Also the mattress isn't very comfortable. Not a long term option for sure, but just fine for us for short term. It's also pretty low to the ground. I think this won't be a great fit for my parents. Too low and not enough cushion. I'm thinking popping an air mattress on it will solve that.Why we kept it:We decided we'd just toss a air mattress on it and call it good enough. It's VERY convenient and folds up nice. Big space saver. I'd NOT buy this one again, I'd buy a nicer model. But I'm not about to pack it up and return it. Most of my displeasure surrounds the condition of it. I expected new and it was not not new looking. If I'd paid less for a scratch and dent, I'd have been very happy.I'll post some pictures

Absolutely beautiful cabinet Murphy bed—worth every $$$! Highly recommend~ AAA+

I was impressed by how extremely well it was packaged. Even so, there was minor damage that shouldn’t affect the assembly or aesthetics(pic). It was very easy for me to assemble. I love assembling things and I am meticulous about it as well. The mattress is thin, however it is adequate for my young visitors. They claim it is comfortable. I am 120lbs and find it comfortable to lay down on but it compresses completely to the wood if I sit or walk on it (only way to get to a lamp against the wall.) I bought the grey which I think looks really nice. The hardware that is attached to the frame, (pic)which allows the frame to be locked onto the cabinet, has a sharp edge. I may tape a washcloth with masking tape to it when I have guests outside my bubble, and after COVID-19.As others have stated, I was also missing the screws to attach the frame to the cabinet. The frame also does not match up evenly with the height of the cabinet.(pic) It is slightly off and may strip the screws out overtime from the uneven weight distribution. I am not handy enough to go to the hardware store and purchase the correct Size screws. And, with Covid Currently surging I am not comfortable going to a hardware store for help. Not to mention the company should send them to me anyways since they left them out.I immediately called the 1-800 number for help, and was told to email the company for faster service. I sent an email with details and photos. That was October 24. It’s December 9th, I’m still waiting and I can not close the bed until I get the screws. It’s in my Tiny office. Luckily you can not tell I’m sitting on the bed during Zoom meetings. Not being able to fold it out of the way is however becoming increasingly inconvenient.I would have preferred a regular and well built Murphy bed but we did not have the wall space to install in my tiny office. We bought the Queen size.It is very heavy and is difficult to move once assembled. We used a carpeted Dollie with 4 wheels to move it, while on its end, around the house and to its final destination. (Pic)If the bed was slightly better built, cabinet level with the frame to attach via 3 hinges and proper screws included or mailed to us, I would recommend. It looks really nice and seems well built for occasional use.

So far, so good. I was missing a box after I started putting this together. I notified the company and it arrived the next morning. I think the delivery person just forgot it on the truck with original delivery. This is a very heavy and sturdy piece. I had fun putting it together. I felt satisfied I could do it without help. It slept well. A little firm, but mostly for my grandkids, so they are fine with it. I would highly recommend this. There were a couple of dings, but not worth replacing. I just used a little coverup pen.

This was exactly what I was searching for. It did come with a broken latch on one side but customer service was great and sent out a new one immediately. The mattress is comfortable. We left it out for three days so it could fluff up. Took a few time to figure out how to fold it up into the cabinet, but once we did, it was easy to set up.
