Doesn’t turn on easy
Doesn’t turn on easy. Have to take of the battery every time and put it back on. Annoying Af. Screen is very bright. Outdoors on beach I can see everything fine. Screen gets super hot fast even with fans on.

No instructions included
One of the first things I noticed about this monitor was that there were no instructions included. I’ve worked with monitors and A/V setups before so I was expecting to be able to connect power and then connect the input signal to the monitor to have it work. Unfortunately, that first step wasn’t so self-explanatory. The monitor comes with a DC input cable, but there is no power adapter for it. You can also use batteries to power it, but again, there are none included.I did have a couple of NP F550 batteries laying around for instances such as this, but as it turns out, they weren’t high enough capacity-wise to power the monitor. The back of the monitor shows “DC Input: 7-24V” and so I grabbed a portable power supply I have that has adjustable DC power along with a DC connector. I set it to 20V/7.5A and plugged the monitor in. After holding the power button in for a few seconds, I saw the power button's green LED come on indicating that it was receiving power. At that point, I hadn't connected my camera. So, I grabbed a Canon 70D and an HDMI to HDMI Mini cable. The HDMI Mini connector plugs into the camera while the HDMI end plugs into the HDMI IN port on the monitor. After I turned on the camera, the signal came through on the monitor. It is very bright - as described - and the colors are very true to life. There are many buttons on the top of the monitor besides the power button. Since I didn't have a manual, I don’t know what any of the buttons are supposed to do. Without just clicking around on it. The buttons do have a very soft tactile bump to them so you know when you’ve made a connection.I would love to recommend this monitor based on the visual output it produces, but I can't get past the fact that no instructions or guides were included. If they were, I would have given this a much higher rating.

Nice and bright, 2 things you need
You will most likely need both a HDMI to mini HDMI an your will need a NP-F style battery. Personally I would not go less then a NP-F750 and your best off with 2 batteries so you can be charging one while using the other. I have a NP-F550 to test the field monitor and its just too short of a battery life I recorded about 30 minutes of footage plus some setup time and the battery was dead.

Functional in full sun, needs battery adapters for Canon, and mini HDMI cable. Good overall.
The manufacturer included a conventional HDMI to HDMI cable, but many cameras will require a mini HDMI plug for their video output. also included was a coaxial barrel connector cable for power, but no power supply. Fotga's website does not have any downloadable instruction manuals as of this writing, but they do have a "Manuals, Coming Soon" message. To be fair, this is a brand new product that might not be available for sale to the public as of the time of this writing.Unfortunately, this kit feels incomplete. In order to get it working, I placed an order for two adapter plates to allow me to use my camera's batteries (Canon LP-E6). These adaptors are an additional cost (and shipping delay) that should have been included in the kit. Additionally, I had to order the aforementioned HDMI to Mini HDMI cable to get it connected to my Canon 80D. This was another added expense. Hopefully full production models will include battery adapter plates, proper cabling, and a comprehensive instruction manual. it is designed to use Sony batteries that the industry has standardized on, but now with Canon's mirrorless EOS-R line on the rise, it's important to have compatibility there as well. A lot of content producers are going to be running Canon so the adapters should be standard. If you have a couple of spare Sony NP-F970 batteries, you can power it up right away. Otherwise you will need another power source.Factoring in the cost and inconvenience of obtaining the additional adapters, it is somewhat less attractive at this price. Now that that's out of the way, I was pleasantly surprised to see the included folding sun hood. I must have missed that in the description, but it is a nice feature to include. The outside of the frame has 3 mounting positions for the included hot shoe mount adapter, on each side and the bottom. They also included a 1/4"-20 threaded adapter to allow direct mounting to a tripod or other 1/4"-20 threaded mounting options in the bottom center hole. The sides each have two 1/4"-20 holes, so no adapters are necessary there, and also included was a cold shoe receiver to attach accessories like a mic. After one of the adapter plates arrived, I connected an LP-E6 battery in one of the slots, and it powers on with just one battery, so if you are doing a short shoot, and forgot to bring enough batteries, one will probably get you by. I did notice there is a little bit of fan noise when powered up, but you will need cooling. It's faint, and probably won't affect your audio provided you use a mic that is well isolated.Fotga's website lists a lot of different features, and this monitor is compatible with accessories that can allow you some control over camera functions (assuming a compatible camera). It is capable of adjusting video parameters from the monitor if you connect this optional adapter. But the real reason to connect an external monitor (if your camera already has a smaller, built-in monitor) is for a larger, brighter, daylight-visible screen. 2500 nits is going to be significantly brighter than the brightest cell phones. After testing in full sun at 2pm in mid April with the backlight at 75%, it was easily visible. For this reason alone it is a huge asset, not to mention the much larger screen for framing and composing shots.I didn't try loading any LUTs yet but it will be a nice feature for seeing what the finished video will look like.Overall I am impressed and once they get a few of the early wrinkles ironed out it will be a great monitor. If there was an option for 4.5 stars, that's how I'd rate it, because it's better than 4, but not perfect.

Decent Quality Field Monitor
I Like this field monitor, it's compact and it got amazing brightness and decent screen size, alot of controls and it's touch screen, it got all the bells and whisltes you're looking for in a field monitor, I like it very much, doesn't take much space in my camera bag, and takes 2 sony batteries and last forever. It has two fans on the back, which you can hear them which is the only downside for me, but other wise, solid field monitor for a decent price. I highly recommend it.
