Buy this book. Learn about the history that some don’t want you to know.
This is a great book! It still amazes me that some people still live through life hating, and teaching their young to hate another person or group because of skin color. Even in 2019, many say “Make America Great Again”. One question, When was America ever Great for All Citizens? The same fight has been going since The Declaration of Independence was created.

"Secret Society Psyop"
The Race Riot as it was called was obviously a Secret Society (KKK) plan from the get go,African American slaves that came north on the Trail of Tears with the 5 Civilized Tribes Chickasaws,Choctaws,Cherokees,Creeks and Seminoles all of whom were slave owners walked to freedom in Oklahoma and as all people of one culture do flock together, as fate would have it Oklahoma was rich with Oil and as time passed the African American community prospered greatly. Then on one fateful day a young African American man bumped into a young 18 year old white girl (the news papers at the time said she was 17) that operated an elevator, she claimed he tried to rape her and he was arrested, the News Papers embellished the the story as under age sexual assault, the White community was outraged and banded together and went to the jail supposedly as a lynch mob 400 strong the African American community hearing this sent 75 armed citizens to protect him, the Sheriff said that won't be necessary but leave your guns here and go home, one African American refused and a scuffle for the gun started and the gun went off starting the riot. What I found suspicious was African Americans were told to leave home and go to the High School for safety, when they did the whites burned the town to the ground from the ground to the air with crop duster planes dropping incendiary devices, so from the papers to the crop dusters to the KKK it looks like to me a planed event. The book ends with the history and accomplishments of Oklahoma African Americans, all in all an event that not a lot of Americans know about, to this day we will never know if the girl was bumped into or sexually assaulted...in an elevator??

Okay read
Good read, however, I wish there was more historical content regarding the citizens of greenwood and events. I was a bit disappointed that only 50 percent of the book contained actual facts. The other portion seemed to be just fillers.

Stories that should be told
This book is one of those books, I'll bring up everytime when speaking on black growth. Although it was marred by racism it showed the black community ability to create financial freedom and build sustainable businesses all before desegregation in Greenwood Tulsa Oklahoma. The riot following allegations of misconduct incited a deep seeded racism might have burned the original iteration down (this includes house, businesses and churches) but the history and some of the buildings are still there due to reconstruction or luck. This should show given the opportunity the black community will build and sustain their community.

This is a well written account of "Black Wall Street" ...
This is a well written account of "Black Wall Street". However it goes into more outside detail of events that had an effect on the resurgence of the area more so than the story of Black Wall Street itself

Impressive Black enclave
Interesting. Didn't know how successful the Black Wallstreet was. Located in Tulsa, Okla. The area was tragically burned down.

The 1921 Tulsa riot
Covers the 1921 Greenwood Avenue riot in great depth, and includes information, I've not seen anywhere else. From the time leading up to the riot, the event itself, and the aftermath - it does not try to lay blame, but just gives the facts, and lets the reader draw their own conclusions. This edition also includes details of the Final Report of the Tulsa Race Riot Commission, released Feb 28, 2001

Detailed
Full of detail and information about the area and the riot. But to a man not of Tulsa or the area, indeed the country. It was far too detailed. But an interesting read.
