Fussy, fat dog approved
I purchased this food for my mother-in-law's overly spoiled, morbidly obese dog. Baby (yes, the dog's name is Baby [eye roll]) has had WAY too many table scraps and has the rolls to prove it. Every time my mother-in-law sets off to put Baby on a diet, she gives in because "she doesn't eat." My well intentioned (and somewhat clueless) M-I-L proceeds to give Baby table scraps which she thinks are "small" in size. Trying to explain that a whole end crust of pizza for a dog that should weight 13 pounds is too much food is lost on her. After spending a weekend at our house along with our two active, little dogs, it finally hit home with her that she needs to take better care of her dog. I told her that when Baby is really hungry, she WILL eat. She was on Science Diet that was recommended by the veterinarian. I am certain that Science Diet is a fine food, but if the dog won't gobble it up immediately upon being placed in her dish, the M-I-L isn't going to wait for the dog to eat the dog food. The bologna and cheese will come out. Blue Buffalo got great ratings and I decided I wanted to try and teach the old dog (my M-I-L) a new trick; that is, how to take good care of her dog. She was so thrilled and excited to call and tell me that Baby LOVES the food and gobbles it right up when it's put in front of her. I made sure that she's only feeding the amount for the desired weight, not current weight. She says she is. In addition to this dog food, I purchased small size training treats. No more four large treats per return trip from outside. I'm really hoping this is a game changer for my M-I-L's sweet, tubby sidekick.

Teeny, tiny pieces that my older toy breed dogs love
My tiny adult dogs (a Yorkie and a Chihuahua) are losing teeth in their old age. I noticed them struggling to eat the larger, harder pieces that they had eaten for years. I started searching for an adult dogfood that had tiny pieces that they actually liked. I picked up a bag of Blue Buffalo at my local store and felt of the pieces through the bag. I had never felt pieces of dogfood that small. It should be easy for them to chew and with Blue Buffalos reputation, i knew it would be good for them. They love it! It is simple to chew. So glad I found this. Also, I cant keep our cat out of their dogfood bowl. He likes it better than his cat food. I may let him try Blue Buffalo cat food, if they make it.

Good stuff.
Well, with over a thousand reviews already, there's not much to say, but for what it's worth...My local pet store stopped carrying the brand of dog food I normally buy--actually I believe it has been discontinued by the manufacturer--and I needed a replacement rather quickly while I could still ween my dog off the other food rather than switching cold turkey. I've heard great things about Blue Buffalo, so thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed.Normally (i.e. at the pet store), Blue Buffalo has always been too expensive to justify buying. The price Amazon charged makes it competitive. It still costs a little more than some of the other well-known brands out there, but the difference in quality for the price ends up being a good value. My dog seems to like this food very much, there was no problem getting him to eat it. Sometimes he leaves one or two of the "LifeSource bits" behind, and there's nothing I can do to coax him into eating them. How he can pick those out and differentiate them from the rest of the kibble is beyond me, but he can; and why he eats some of them and leaves others behind is also beyond me, but he does. Anyway, there's something about the LifeSource bits that's "off". They obviously lack in consistency. To be honest, I have to say that my dog's old brand of food was more effective in controlling weight. He had knee surgery in August 2014, weighing in at over 25lbs at the time (a Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix). He and I invested a lot of time in his rehab, and one of the goals was to slim him down so there wasn't so much pressure on the knee. By the end of January 2015 he was under 21 lbs! At his last weighing prior to switching to this food, he was almost down to 19lbs, which is what the vet said would be his ideal weight. Then the food switch, and now he's gaining again. I would really hate to reduce his portion size, considering I feel like (and he acts like) I'm giving him the bare minimum already, so I'm hoping this is just a temporary reaction to a new food.Speaking of reactions to a new food... he's sure pooping an awful lot now! Not more frequently, per se, but in sheer volume. Again, that's probably just an adjustment his system is making, but at the same time it also makes me question the efficiency of this dog food.I have a love/hate relationship with resealable dog food bags. On the one hand, I love the fact that they're resealable and the food stays fresher longer. Plus you don't need a chip clip to store the food. On the other hand, the opening is too small for my hand to reach in and easily scoop out the food (because the corners of the bag are connected to the sealing strip and don't open fully). In this particular case, the 'hate' aspect outweighs the 'love' part; in other words, I wish they'd just get rid of the resealable top, or ideally redesign it in such a way that the bag can be fully opened. However, overall I'm pleased with the Blue Buffalo. Obviously it has its quirks, but as long as Amazon keeps the price competitive and my dog remains under 20lbs, then this is the new food for him.

Healthy dog food that my dogs will eat...
The stores have been running out of our regular dog food and taking too long to get it back in stock during the COVID pandemic, so we purchased this here... knowing already that our dogs would eat it. While it is more expensive in general, it was cheaper here than in the store... and it is another healthy dog food as opposed to a chinese import or a large multinational product, so hopefully we will continue to have no issue with this brand. If I have any complaints, it is that the food for small sized dogs is either too tiny or too large... it seems that no one makes them the proper size.... :-)

She’s a puppy again!
My seven year old mix (Pomeranian, pug, Shellie, terrier) is a good hound. So we ended up with her being very overweight and inactive. She has bad knees as well. Within the first week of feeding her this food she is racing around like a puppy! She is interactive and chases toys! She’s only lost 2 lbs- but that’s a lot more in the dog world.I own a daycare so she is around 7 little kids five days a week. So she is still snagging human food here and there. Otherwise I think she’d weigh less!
