Car (DK Definitive Transport Guides)

A fun book as long as you have a large enough tablet to read it on. I wouldn't go below 10 inches. The book is written chronologically from the earliest cars through each decade of the 1990s before finishing with a chapter on the 2000s.Every 'page' is really a two page spread as it is modified from a coffee table book. Many of these pages have 15 to 18 related cars pictured with a little blurb about each one. Cars from all countries are included under headings like sports cars or luxury cars. The pictures are quite lovely and the layout gives a nice impression of what was going on in a given decade with a given type of car.My favorite pages gave an overview of the history of a particular automotive marquee. Another enjoyable feature illustrated a specific car in-depth across two pages. The pictures of these cars were quite beautiful.Anyone who enjoys cars or is interested in the history of the automobile would enjoy this book.

I sent this book as a gift to my grandson. upon receiving it he was thrilled at discovering the history and details of his favorite cars, new and old. He loved how it is well illustrated with photos and the clear descriptions as well as their historical facts. Beautiful format and well presented. I would recommend this book without hesitation to car lovers young and old.

For the price a very good source of information and history. The book got good reviews in Automotive Magazines. Worth the addition to a auto library.

I am using an iPad Pro (the one with the big screen) and the Kindle reader app. Some books, especially those with lots of photos or illustrations, just don’t work well with a Kindle reader. I took a chance on this book and it has worked out very well. There are many pictures included in the book, mostly small, but they hold up well when you zoom in. Likewise, you will need to zoom in to read much of the text, but that hasn’t been much of a bother. I’m about 0n Page 80, and I’ve really been enjoying the book. There are lots of little blurbs about certain cars, and some longer sections (few pages) which go more in depth on some topics. I don’t know how this would work on a black & white reader, or a more compact reader. There are so many photos that it really begs to be on a color screen.

I gifted this to a close friend who is a car collector and enthusiast and she absolutely loved the book, commenting especially on all of the wonderful historical information and photography. DK produces consistently good quality books.

This is an overview, not a critique or a history. Very nostalgic in a way and a nice catalog. Recommended.

I have bought amsny DK books for myself and grandkids

This look at automotive history is colourful and interesting but only in its hard-copy format. Its illustrations are not well-presented in the narrow confines of a Kindle screen.
