To Bleed a Crystal Bloom

Not recommend
Everyone is so excited about these books but I can’t understand why. Let me first state that the cover isn’t printed very clear. Second, there are loads of moments where the mc constantly switches her behaviour between that of a child and a grown woman. Very irritating to follow.

I’m so mad at this FMC and MMC dynamic
Writing is good, despite not much happening, I like this writing. My main gripe the relationship that’s been teased at between the FMC and MMC, it’s frustrating and annoying to read. I don’t like him at all, and everything is hinting toward him keeping a big dark secret and being this protector, that may be his redeeming quality, but his behaviours toward the FMC are irredeemable. Her unflinching love and obsession for him is her motivation in life, and it just makes me scream in fury. I have such deep hope that this does not turn out the way it’s obviously heading, them together, because I just hate that as her foster father he’s kept things from her, we still don’t know what it is, yet wants her to stop hiding from the world, but doesn’t want her around other people because he’s possessive.I can excuse this first book, because okay it’s leading us somewhere, the FMC doesn’t know any better and sees him as her saviour and loves him, fine but now that she’s heading out into the world, she better grow up. Otherwise I’m done with this series.

Good Start to a series
The author paints a very vivid world and I get that it's going to be a trilogy I just hope she's able to answer all of the questions she leaving us hanging with while reading this first installation

Give it a chance, you will not regret it!
**spoiler alert** I want to start off my saying that when I started this book, I almost DNF. However I pushed through and I am SO GLAD that I did! This book ticks almost all my boxes - fantasy, gore, mystery, spice, and the unexpected. I would be lying if I said the MFC didn't annoy the absolute h*ll out of me at times, but that plays a part in her character development through the second book so after reading #2, I've forgiven her for her moments of intense immaturity. This author is the queen of tease LOL the spice in this book is unreal, while at the same time... nothing really ever happens. Its always thisclose to culminating, which helps to build the tension between the characters to a flaming pitch. This is a book that is either a 'yes I've read it' or 'haven't heard of it'. Now that I have read it, I have recommended it to as many people was I can because to not read this book is a loss. Do yourself a favour and read it, and have the second one ready to go for the second you finish! You can thank me later.

Superb!
This is my first Sarah a Parker book and I have to say she will be an auto-buy author for me. She has a way with words and i thoroughly devoured the prose. As much as the story explores darker topics, I think it’s done well. Check trigger warnings prior to reading. The world building and character development was top notch. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
