Rotosound FM66 Swing Bass 66 Stainless Steel Funkmaster Bass Guitar Strings (30 50 70 90)

My neighbour was an amateur luthier who passed away unexpectedly a few months ago, and his wife gave me two of the guitars he'd built (a Mustang copy and a fretless P-bass). I absolutely LOVE the bass, but it was the first instrument he built and he didn't put a truss rod in the neck. Using it with .45's was making the neck bow noticeably, so I wanted to find a very light string that would create less tension. These Rotosounds seemed like a good option.I'd never used stainless steel strings before, but boy are they are LOUD! The midrange is wide and rich, making it really pop through my Rumble. The bass response is a bit aggressive but the highs are surprisingly mellow. That's a weird mixture, but I kind of like it. The sound has a bit of honk to it and reminds me of Billy Sheehan's tone. I've heard people say that steel strings dull faster than nickel-plated but, even after a week of playing, these are still resonant and haven't lost their zing.The feel takes some getting used to. They are very loose compared to the strings I'm used to, so they tend to catch my plucking/popping fingers more than a tighter string would. The windings are also more abrasive than other strings I've tried, so there's more friction when sliding your fretting hand. Neither of those things are bad in themselves, just something that you have to get used to.Overall, I really like these strings. They boom like a cannon and yet still have a pleasantly round top end. At $30.75 per set, they're very reasonably price compared to other sets and I would certainly recommend these to anyone looking for a lighter gauge string or something that's going to make their slap lines pop :)My rating: 4.5 stars

These strings are very bright sounding which means they excellent for slap bass playing and clean sounding for normal bass playing. I have these fitted to Musicman Sterling 4 string USA this is a great bass guitar. Now it sounds even better these strings fitted to it. These strings will improve any bass guitar especially good makes bass guitars. High recommended!

Never experienced such a playability. Miss some tone definition but so lovely
