Works great--slight personal modification made it even better!
Live in a Downtown Highrise Condo-- this was the perfect addition to my office, craft, creative space room! I am an avid sewing and iron almost every seam I create, this is perfect. I installed it myself (I am a female w/med to strong home repair skills) in less than a few hours. The hardest or most difficult thing for me was that I really had one wall I could install it in after HVAC, Concrete supports, doors, electric box, etc were considered. In addition I didn't have the luxury of dealing with wood studs so securing the unit to something required some creativity--went to hardware store got some 2x2s and gorilla glued them to the inside surface of the drywall both below and on the sides. This installation method has held strong for 1.5 years. The only other thing I would suggest & did before mounting was sand the inside of the unit wood-- I am fast and ruff (aka clumsy) on stuff this avoided any future slivers. I then painted the inside white (Behr Eggshell white paint) bc I am rather picky about how stuff looks. Last thing is that the board cover doesn't have as much "padding" as the average so I just bought another fluffy cover on Amazon--and sewed mitten clips to elastic to secure down the bulk on the back (bottom) side of the board.

Review 5 Years Later...
I bought two of these 5 years ago and they are still great. The board got loose recently and it was simple fix by tightening up the concealed bolts on the underside. Hardest part was removing the plastic cone covering them.My only gripe was that I chose a finished model. I should have gotten the unfinished wood and painted it the color white. Their white is just a little dull and I'm not sure how to go about painting it when I do my remodel in the near future. It hasn't bothered me until now though when I replaced a door nearby that looks really different in color.Other than that... this is great. Price is acceptable for what you are getting. I ended up adding a battery powered light that turns on with a touch. There are times I need to iron discretely as I wake up earlier than my wife and I didn't want to turn on the room light.Another thing I would say is look at the size of the iron you are purchasing. I ended up getting a CHI that is slightly bigger than the opening this board offers. So I have to tilt it to stow it away. Not a big deal..As far as maintenance... I really don't put the iron away until it's cooled down. I don't think there's anything else I'd recommend. Maybe just keep an eye on the board if it starts feeling loose be careful not to continue pushing down on it too hard for too long before tightening things up. It took me a few years before it started to do that and I tightened it right away.I'm really really glad I bought this. It's convenient, it's useful and it's easy to install given you have the space for it. I had to move a lot of things around in the wall like wires to get it exactly where I wanted in the room but it was well worth it. I would buy again if needed but I don't see that being anytime soon as these are still in great condition.

Super simple, well built, concealed Ironing Board
Very easy to install. First make sure you have enough opening room in front of board to open door, fold board down and swivel! Then install easily!Simply locate the stud space of an empty bay (free from electrical, plumbing vents, and HVAC spaces), *must have electrical outlet nearby* Then cut your drywall neatly to the specified width and adjustable height measurements, lay iron cabinet on floor and secure door hinges in place; set ironing frame, making sure to level, into opening and screw sides into existing studs on both sides. Adjust if needed and your ready to add iron and cover pad of your choice or pad provided!Love that board swivels 180 and has a height adjustment!

An economical solution compared to the Iron Away Models
We purchased the Hide-Away Supreme Series Ironing Center Model SUP420 for $210 from Home Depot. We picked it up at our local store so we saved the shipping cost. We purchased the Household Essentials Stow Away Cabinet Light and Power 3-Prong Outlet with LED Spotlight with auto-Off Timer through Amazon for $54 (also free shipping). So we ended up spending $264. The comparable Iron A Way model AE-42 Deluxe Electric Swivel Ironing Center which included a slightly fancier light/timer was priced at over $500. In the end we saved almost 50%. It cost us $150 to have it installed but that would have been the same with the Iron A Way model anyway. Either unit has to be hard wired into the existing electrical. Very happy with this purchase. Have only used it one time so far so I can't comment on durability, but it looks great and is very easy to use.

Easy to install with planning.
It did fit perfectly between studs. I did place a 2x4 across bottom between studs to act as shelf. Once studs were located i opened wall and slowly opened the area (mine had sheet rock with paneling covering now a 3/4 thick). If you want to put support like i mention yo can reach between studs install 3/4 “ 1 x 4 on each side then place 2x4 shelf in place. ( of course it would be set so stud shelf is level with opening. Measure up side of ironing box for final cut out of wall. I set my shelf at 25” off floor. I did all this because the washing machines is in tight space and i will have to remove box to slide out washer. My only complaint is the instructions for door mounting are not real clear.Lay box on floor align door , mark the hinge mounting (inside of box frame). I had to fill the holes as i had face mounted.Functions well. Did buy extra board cover at same time.

How a 30 minute job became 4 hours
As most home projects go, they never go quite as planned. I was installing my oak finish case in the side wall of a closet. First surprise was the wall was not 4 inches deep. It was 2 inches deep as the two x fours were not on edge and not at 18 inch centres. The 18 inch problem I knew about as I used a stud finder but the on edge was a surprise. Fortunately one side of the box was only inches from a wall so that side of the box could not be seen. So I took the oak trim from one side and added it to the visible side and used a piece of plywood on the hidden side. I also added a two by four on one side to get a insert width to match the desired 18 inch centres. Took some doing but it worked out well in the end. My only issue was with some of the screws provided with the hinges for the door. Drill a pilot hole as if you don't you can break the supplied screw trying to screw it into the Oak frame. I am quite pleased with the overall project as it replaces a free standing unit that was always in the way. I used a clear satin finish on the oak and was quite happy with the wood grain. Even the double thick side trim join is hard to spot unless you are looking for it.

The ironing board cover isn't quite as nice as my last one
This is the second one of these I have owned. I think this one is a little less tight in the action that lowers the board and I am treating it gently, hoping it will last. The ironing board cover isn't quite as nice as my last one. This one does not have the metallic finish that my first one had. There is an extra shelf halfway down that is nice and the other one didn't have. It looks nice on the wall. It still has the metal guard area where a hot iron can sit. Mostly I'm very pleased with it and like it so much better than an ironing board I have to find a place to store.

Excellent product, great price!
Very easy to set up. Ironing board is sturdy and takes up little space. The storage inside is also nice. I had to change Iron as mine had a wide base and did not fit. There is a place on the door for opening, but I added a pull knob and it looks great!
