Erst FLOPP dann TOP

This is a lot better than competitors' offerings at this price point.
I kind of feel bad for this workbench because it's being sold so cheaply now and it's worth the original 50 quid imo.I've just bought my second one after the first one started to fail (I kept it out on a rainy balcony, so that's really my fault). I bought it from somewhere else though as I didn't want to go prime.Having just assembled my second one, I have a suspicion that the reason some people think this bench collapses too readily / doesn't fold flat, is they're not assembling it correctly. The L-shaped blue tightening handles go through the elongated holes in the legs not the round holes and the same legs sit and pivot on the pre-assembled silver steel bar in the bracket at the top of the A-frame.Seriously, for 30 or so quid, if you're looking for a decent bench, get this one. And be sure to assemble correctly.

Not very sturdy, you will spend a lot of time tightening screws. Not what you expect from Germany.
I've got to that age where I'd rather spend a little more on a quality item. Looking through the reviews for the Black & Decker 301 Workmate, the consensus is that the current versions are a poor replica of the sturdy models of the past. That's what we get for cheaper manufacturing methods. So based on those reviews I thought I'd spend twice the price and go for the Wolfcraft Master 200. I still have a lingering appreciation for German made products. In this case, that approach has badly let me down. The Master 200 is amazingly flimsy. Every session starts with 5mins of tightening the screws to try and introduce some rigidity into the structure. Several times the jaws have ended up forcing upwards, rather than gripping the item in question. Again, you're back to tightening the screws under boards on the top. Unfortunately this has resulted in me losing a couple of screws. My plan now is to try using plumbers tape or glue on the screws to keep them in place. I'd rather not throw this in a skip, so will try to repair it. It's a real pity that companies don't make these type of things to a higher standard. Having just completed a project in the garden, so much of what we bought has barely made it through the 3-month process. I guess it's great this stuff is cheap but this feels very wasteful. Seems others maybe a little upset with the Wolfcraft, as it has dropped in price significantly. Now only 25% more than the B&D. I'd struggle to recommend this item. If you're looking for the quality option, it's probably the more expensive B&D models (WM 825) - unless anyone else can make a suggestion?

Fantastic quality and value
East to assemble, very strong, great value. I have read in reviews that some people find it puzzling to fold flat after use. I think these people must be either cognitively challenged or have not sufficiently understood the design although the instructions on folding are a bit equivocal. It folds beautifully just study the design, oil the roller pin and you will see how.I don't know how Wolfcraft do it for £32, the more expensive versions from Black and Decker and Bosh are no better and not as good value. This is a buy worth more than the asking price..Thanks for reading this free and genuine review.PS. Down side: excess packaging.
