General Motors GM Genuine Parts D1414D Ignition Switch

It fit the truck and appears to be doing fine. Quality seems to be on par with the one I removed.

This switch is the same as the OEM GM and even boxed the same. The much cheaper no-name aftermarket unit, that I once bought had improper wire gauges and contacts.INFO:This is a frequent failure point and often very hard to diagnose. Last time I replaced it on our vehicle was at 80'k miles, now truck has 160'k and it had to be replaced again.Symptoms may include intermittent outage and warning of ABS, A/C, 4WD, Transmission as well as mysterious hard starting condition. None of these conditions will show up the factory scanner pointing to the switch. You will just have to assume it is the switch or probe the switch.On the Tahoe, the only way to remove the upper and lower steering column shroud without braking it, is by removing the steering wheel. Also you will need a deep Torx E4 and E5. The shroud can be removed only after the ignition switch was pulled out. The Ignition Switch is held in place from above by a pin that needs to be pressed down with an angled pick tool (while the shroud is lifted a bit) and only then can the ignition switch be pulled out.

Exact fit for my 1998 Chevrolet Silverado. Relatively easy to install, but takes a little work.

The important thing here is this is a direct fit,,, it does take some basic skill and patience to install it.

Works great, a little difficult to install, I watched a YouTube video too see how it was done, also had to buy a set of E torks sockets, ( make sure you purchase the deep sockets if you need some, shallow ones won’t work on one of the screws that holds it to the steering column).

Not an easy job, but item was an exact fit and solved my problem.

As mentioned above, I returned it.
