Q: Do you need double sided tape for this D-2 Rubber Duct Cord Cover or wil it just lay flat on it's own?

Not sure if this would work. I need one of these because my robot vacuum keeps getting tied up on a cord. This is needed on my hardwood floors, so I am afraid if this rubber duct can slide then the robot vacuum may push it along. Do they not sell this product in a solid/dense/heavy rubber that will hold to the floor?

Q: I see that the center conduit is split for easy use, but how do I use the other channels? Must the chords be threaded?

the side channels are not big enough for much except a lamp cord that would have to be pushed through from 1 end, but the center channel is big enough for 2 large extension cords (12 gauge). I have 1 12 gauge cord and a flexeel air hose (1/4) in mine.

Q: Instead of buying the 5 ft. one, wouldn't this 10 ft. be better and cut as needed, as i don't know exactly at the moment how long i may need?

I cut the one I bought to size, so if you are unsure absolutely buy the longer length. It was easy to cut as well!

Q: Is it rigid or does it come coiled up?

It has a little flexibility but is definitely rigid and stationary on the floor.
