Great product, highly recommended
I think the product is flawless, but for one thing, and it is inherent to the design.Due to the fact that it attaches by magnet, your phone's magnetometer (The "Electronic Compass") is going to be overwhelmed by the attaching magnet. This is not a huge problem in a car for a number of reasons:1) It generally works it out from direction of motion.2) Magnetometers often have problems in cars anyway.I am also wondering if this may also affect the magnetometer when not in the holder (Because the bit of metal you attach to the phone becomes magnetized) and that's when you REALLY want the e-compass to work. For this reason I have used the non-sticky plate inserted into my phone cover for now, we'll see how it goes.Other than this caveat, it's brilliant. The included tacky pad sufficiently augmented the sucker to attach to my textured dash. It does not wobble. The phone does not move around, even if you hit a speed bump. The weight of a charging cord does not seem to cause the phone to rotate, but if you do want to rotate it, it's pretty effortless. My only other niggle is that the magnet seems to activate some kind of special car screen on my phone. I have seen this before and is in principle another benefit of this system - to turn your phone into a simplified UI with just the things you need while driving.Unfortunately it is shoddily implemented on my phone and I do not know how to configure it (And I am a geek, god help non tech-savvy people)Not really your problem I know, but if looking for ways to improve your service, maybe do some research, present users with info on how to deal with it. Maybe even your own app or a recommended / included app that detects the magnet and changes the phone UI to car mode.Overall, would recommend. Very convenient, good quality.

Good universal mount.
Item seems to work well. Holds my Galaxy S5 with an Otterbox Symmetry case. I have just put the magnet between the case and the phone. It does manage to hold to the phone, and it has not fallen once, but it does not "feel" like it's secured. Doesn't matter what it "feels" like if it works, right? The case is also on the thicker side. I would give it 4.5 if I could - I do not like the base, specifically the gel on the suction cup. I don't think would be an issue if it was a permanent install, but I switch vehicles and it constantly leaves rings on the windshield. (Which yes, even non-gel suction cups will, just not as quickly or noticeable.) I have fixed this by removing the magnet portion and transferring it to a Garmin Nuvi 200 series base - which seems to be a fairly good fit, it is a much smaller profile and I transfer between multiple vehicles a day, so that is nice. Does not fit well on Magellan bases.*edit* I have switched to a slimmer case, which does not allow for the magnet to be put in between the phone and the case, so I stuck the round one directly on the back. It holds much better than before. I also enjoy the fact if I've also had my phone plugged in to charge while driving, I can stick the mini USB end on the magnet to hold it there when not in the vehicle.

... Mount at work for my iPhone5s and it works great. The jell mount works great at holding it ...
I use the Infernal Innovations Magnetic Phone Mount at work for my iPhone5s and it works great. The jell mount works great at holding it on my Formica desktop and I'm certain it would work equally as well on glass. The magnet is very strong and is very convenient in mounting/dismounting the iPhone. The magnet has no effect on the phone operation. The entire Infernal Innovations Magnetic Phone Mount is very compact and compared to one my daughter bought me is much, much easier to mount and dismount the iPhone. A very unique and effective approach to a phone mount problem. I plan on buying one for my wife to use on her desk for hangs free communications while working doing taxes.

Excellent phone mount for phablets
I have a note 4 and wanted a holder that I could still keep the rubber case on with.Seeing the other reviews, I liked in particular, the magnetic means of retention.I was slightly concerned that the heavy note 4 might detach, especially over speed bumps or potholes.None of these concerns were warranted, and this holder is simply brilliant. There is a large self adhesive magnet, which i have placed on the inside of my rubber case, and although the magnet is then not directly in contact with the holder, it is so strong that it holds its position perfectly.I have now been using this holder for two months, and the phone has never fallen off.I can then park and detach the phone in a second, rather than faffing with clamps or brackets. It comes brilliantly packaged and looks to be very well made. It comes with a holder with a standard suction mount, which is as good as my old Tomtom , and a spare adhesive pad, in the event you want to mount the suction pad on the dashboard, for example. I have used both methods, and they are equally firm and stable.Highly recommended - the best mount I have used, and I have had many mounts over the last 10 years.

Not just for the car, expand your mind!
I now have two of these babies, one for me and one for my wife, but I don't use them in the car. I put them on the bathroom mirror. We primarily use this for playing podcasts or music while having a shower or brushing our teeth. We also use electric toothbrushes that have (terrible) companion apps, so it's handy to be able to see that information on screen. You could load up instructions on skincare or shaving and have that visible while your hands are busy. The possibilities are endless! The magnet is strong enough to hold your phone without damaging it (Tested on a Nexus 5, OnePlus Two, iPhone 7 Plus). My only criticism is that it has a limited range of motion, which may be a boon when you use it in the car as it will keep the magnet upright and stable while driving.I should mention that I slide one of the metal plates that comes with the product between my phone case and the phone and that works just fine, it doesn't stick without the metal plate.Other places I am considering putting one of these:- Near the kitchen sink- Near the cooker- Computer desk at work- Computer desk at home- Bedside tableWhile we're sitting here with our minds expanded and open, we should also note that you aren't limited to putting phones on the magnet. Could be a nifty place to put loose screws or maybe to secure a camera mount, who knows!Don't do anything daft with it though.
