AMBIRImageScan Pro 830ix-AS 30ppm High-Speed ADF Scanner for PC and Mac

I've waited a month or so to review. I love this scanner! It's fast, scans both sides of the paper, and has TWAIN capabilities. It's perfect for my needs. The footprint is small, and so it fits quite nicely next to my monitor.The scanning software is easy to use and offers several options as to settings. You can also create custom settings.It took a couple of calls to Ambir for setup, but after that, the scanner worked perfectly. You should know that the scanner shuts down quickly to conserve energy, so it has to be manually turned on before atempting to scan. Before using the TWAIN function, I have to check to make sure the scanner isn't dormant.DOWNSIDEIt doesn't seem to be able to handle a stack of papers. It often jams, so I have to feed just a few sheets at once.

When working, the item is great. Works well but broke within 5 months of use. I contacted the seller regarding the item not working. Despite my best efforts for a resolution, I've been instructed to contact the manufacturer directly. They were happy to take my money but in my opinion did not provide the value I paid for. I will not be doing business with this seller again.

I purchased this scanner because NEAT listed it as being compatible with their software and the scanner was listed as working with Windows and Mac computer. I'm a Mac user. Yes, it will work on a Mac, but if you want all the bells and whistles that Windows users have with this device or the Ambir company, you're out of luck.Trying to find the Mac drivers was challenging on the Ambir site and the only place I found a user manual, because the scanner doesn't come with one, was here on the reviews section on Amazon.Don't try setting it up when Ambir Chat is not available because the FAQs and videos are of no help. The Mac software is confusing. it took me two chat sessions to get the software to save each page to a separate document and retain my settings. I am very tech-savvy, but I've been working on the set up for over 8 hours.On a positive note, the scanner is very fast and feeds documents well. I like that it goes to sleep after 10 minutes. Windows user have controls to change default settings. No luck for Mac users.

Small footprint and big performance

Faster than what I've been used to! Took some time to get it to work with our current computer network. Got frustrated in the beginning but is working fine now.
