The grinds are not fine and the angles are off, especially the V chisel. The angles from one side to the other are uneven, the middle is ground flat, not rounded and the tip has chips. This is the worse tool in the pack. Some of the chisels should work with polishing the grinds which for the price is the most noteworthy thing

personal use a beginner easy to work with

I bought these for a woodworking friend. For several months I have been curious about this set of gouges; there are several different brands on Amazon with differing prices, but they are all the same product with different names and packaging. I bought this one because it was the lowest priced. I expected the tools might arrive with poorly ground edges, loose handles and off center tang placement. The tools that I received were far better than I expected, and not a single gouge was loose in the handle or poorly drilled. My friend will have to spend an hour or so on each too to hone the edge and polish the bevel, but that would be expected with most carving tools. All of my gouges are of 19th Century English make, and these tools do not equal their quality, but they are a solid set of tools. The $50 that I tossed into this roll of tools was cash well spent, and when my friend has finished fine tuning them he'll have a set that is worth many times my small investment. $50 gets you ONE reasonably sized gouge from certain modern makers, this is 12 tools for $50. I'm sure the price will be going way up soon.
