Shut the Gate
I am honestly not sure what I read or what it was really about or, more importantly, why I read it. Mind you - lots of speed reading and page flipping but nowhere could I really find a point, sense or reason for the book to have been written. I obviously missed something vital but I'm not going back to try to find it. The world is full of fascinating books and this isn't one of them. I'm even going into my Kindle library and deleting the book forever.

Not sure what to think.
It'shonestly hard to know how to rate this book. I am an Ashkenazi Jew married to a North African Jew. I thought it would open my eyes to a new perspective. And it did - at least somewhat. The story line, such as it was, meandered. The chapters were from alternating POVs including a ghost. The time line and not linear, so it was hard to follow. I agree with other reviewers that a non-Jew would be lost by the terminology. I was disappointed that after reading to the end, there was no conclusion at all.

Gates to Tangier
This was an interesting book. I felt empathy with the concerns the author was writing about due to the various issues with the Jewish culture, as well as the struggle for centuries they have had. The main object of this book was to find a long-lost brother in order to divide the monies as requested in the father's will. This story includes each sibling's struggles, as well as some of their life experiences. I do feel a glossary would be useful in this book to help with any unfamiliar non-English terms in helping the reader understand the meanings. There were some minor editing errors which are probably due to translation glitches.
