So far, so good
We just got this, so I cannot say very much about how well it works or how sturdy it is yet. But it is heavy and looks great. Will let you know with a follow-up if there are any issues. I think it will do its job thoughUPDATE: It works great very happy!

Good for the price
It's a nice little anvil. Dad got it for blacksmithing. It's forged so it dents easily but you can always grind a new face on it. The horn is a little too wide and the top is too flat but we ground it down to make it narrower. Wouldn't be bad for a beginner in blacksmithing or knife making. With a good solid mount for it, the bounce from a ball bearing is pretty good and it won't ring at all. From 12" it went back up about 10".

Don't Buy It
Only used it a couple times and the work surface dented immediately. Cheap shelf. Save your money and save up for a better quality

but that was easily drilled since it is round
This anvil has a very hard face. My chief complaint is that the hardy hole isnโt anywhere close to 3/4โ. Iโm still in the process of grinding it to 3/4โ with diamond burrs. I refuse to grind the shank of every single hardy tool I buy in the future. The Pritchett hole was off too, but that was easily drilled since it is round. Also, would prefer if the horn were more round rather than triangular. Still a good anvil for the price in my opinion.

Great quality
Great anvil! My son loves it and uses it weekly for a few months now.

Disappointed...
Set aside the horn being flat (WHY?!) Not to mention horn is also cast iron. This thing is a good size/weight but unfortunately once you start hammering steel on it (hammering anything harder than a 4 yr old could) the face is starting to dent and crack! And that's after only 1 use, it keeps getting worse from there...my suggestion is keep your $400 and find yourself an anvil with a name that can be trusted. Unless your buying this drop on a roadrunner from a cliff, don't do it! And if VKRP wants to disagree with me, just ask me for pics and I'll show ya ๐ and for the record NO the face of this anvil has never been struck directly with a hammer, I didn't start doing this yesterday.
