Lunovus’s Visual Advantage AREDS II formula is based on the AREDS II study. The AREDS formula, which was published in 2001, resulted in a 25 percent reduction in the progression of AMD in the original AREDS study and this was also shown to be true in the AREDS II study with an even better result. The use of specific dosages of lutein and zeaxanthin in the AREDS II study showed further reduction of the progression of AMD even better than the first AREDS study, which did not have lutein or zeaxanthin. In the AREDS II study the beta carotene (Vitamin A) was found to decrease the absorption and the efficacy of lutein and zeaxanthin. Therefore, Beta carotene should not be used and lutein and zeaxanthin should take its place resulting in an even better reduction of the progression of AMD. The AREDS II study showed that a lower dose of zinc at 25mg was just as efficient as a dose of zinc at 80mg. Therefore we have included the lower dose zinc in our formula which will also help to offset the stomach irritation many patients have felt while taking an eye supplement. Easy to chew tablets
I simply chew them along with mouthfuls of apple juice. Covers up the zinc flavor and the chewed tablets go downeasily. Much less labor intensive than softening the AREDS capsules in warm apple juice to make them soft enough to swallow!

Was very glad to find these eye vitamins in a chewable form. I just couldn't get down the huge capsules ordered by my doctor. Taste, sweet and tart, is not bad once you get used to it. Doesn't leave the taste behind. Highly recommend if you can't handle large pills!

I am pleased with the chewable pills as I can't swallow pills. I take one in the morning with my. One vitamin and chewable calcium tablet. I take a second table and another chewable Vitamin in the evening. My Dr wasn't aware of the chewable available.had only know of a powder form. Thanks

A good alternative to expensive brands
Two tablets a day are required to meet the AREDS II standard. Flavor of the chewable tablets starts out pleasant and ends less so, but I find it acceptable. The cost is less than that of some of the highly advertised alternatives, which is a plus.

AREDS 2 Chewables
The supplier, Lunovus, did an excellent job in filling my order for their AREDS 2 chewable tablets. I received it in about three days. The chewable tablets are berry flavored and the best tasting I have yet experienced.
