Very satisfied with these boots
I am just beginning to take up hiking and after a bit of research decided on these Merrell boots. One of the key features that influenced my decision was that they are waterproof. I live in the Pacific Northwest and winter and spring seasons tend to be pretty wet. I've been on a few hikes and have found these boots to not only be waterproof, but well made and comfortable as well. I will admit that in a previous review (since deleted) I got it wrong. Turns out walking through very wet tall grass water will get in through the ankle, I don't think any waterproof boot would have prevented this. On subsequent hikes my feet stayed completely dry. I even "retested" them by aiming a shower head directly on them and still 100% dry on the inside. As I mentioned above, I found these boots to be very comfortable, even on longer hikes. I've hiked on a variety of terrain including pavement, dirt, sand, gravel, and river rock and found the traction to be more than adequate. Sizing seems to be accurate as well and having wide feet found the wide width shoes to fit my feet perfectly.I highly recommend these boots.

Good for hiking in the plains
The first thing I noticed about these boots is their exceptional comfort. Right out of the box, they felt like they were custom-made for my feet. The cushioned footbed and supportive midsole provided ample support during long hikes, reducing fatigue and ensuring I could keep going for miles without discomfort. Even during intense climbs and descents, these boots offered stability and confidence, thanks to their well-designed construction.Durability is another standout feature of these boots. Despite countless hikes through rugged terrain, including rocky slopes and abrasive surfaces, these boots have held up remarkably well. The tough outsole provides excellent traction on various surfaces, giving me the confidence to tackle challenging trails without hesitation. In terms of price, I don't think you can get much better then this for you unless you get lucky at a goodwill or fb marketplace. In summary, if you're in the market for a dependable hiking boot that can handle the plains and mountains, look no further than these boots. Comfortable, waterproof, and durable, these boots are a true asset for any outdoor enthusiast. Highly recommended!

Comfortable, resistant, protect and feel good
I was always doubtful, after reading many reviews about hiking boots, and I wanted to make the right purchase and be satisfied. I concluded that I should order half a size larger, so as not to make a mistake and to be sure that they would fit me accurately and comfortably. After looking at several different brands and models of boots, both due to price and previous experience with a model that I really liked, I decided on the Merrell Men's Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot, and I use them very often in my daily activities, and from the moment I received them, they fit me perfectly, comfortable and precise with the arch of my feet, they allow good ventilation, when walking on steep terrain they grip the ground firmly; I clean them easily after use in dusty or swampy areas, I still have to try them on long walks and see their performance, but so far with a few weeks of use I feel that they are perfect for me.

Great boots for the price
Lightweight, comfortable, snug fit, did well in the snow even though they're not insulated. Did well on the trails and some bird hunting

Best Hiking Boot I've Owned
I started hiking in 2018 and for the past 5 years, I hike every single weekend for 2 hours. I hike in the rain, snow, sunny days, cloudy days warm days and cold days, you get the picture. Until this pair of hiking boots, I have worn only Keens, 4 pair. One pair only lasted a month or so and fell apart, so they sent me a new pair. I'm not bashing the Keen's, they did their job.I Googled best hiking boot and these came up, I expected Salomon's or some other high end brand, but the Merrell Moab 3 came up as #1.I ordered them on amazon for $111.00 crazy low price and I have hiked about 10 miles in them so far, the first time it poured the entire 2 hours. They were really comfortable out of the box and held up great in the rain and great in the mud the next weekend.

Worth the money
I've had tons of different hiking boots over the years and Merrills never seem to disappoint. These are my newest and we're comfortable out of the box, and may to break in. Not too heavy and still really good support. Considering buying a 2nd pair as a backup for when these wear out, that's how much I like these.

Love these
Bought these for some trail hiking and metal detecting, they are sturdy and the traction is awesome, but the comfort right out of the box was what has me sold.

Great shoes for hiking, particularly In wet terrain
I’ve recently bought the Merrell shoes that is not waterproof and they fit very well. This one fits a bit more snuggly and I think it’s probably because it’s supposed to be waterproof. Initially, I’m hoping to send this back because I felt like the fit is too small. But after wearing it out for a day or two, it finally fits snuggly in my feet and I don’t feel like it’s too tight anymore. I have a pretty wide footed structure, but it seems like the normal sizes would work. I’ve tried this only in wet puddles and it seems to be waterproof. It does get warm during the summer or hot days just because I think of the material used to make it waterproof. Quality is well-made and the materials use seems to be very strong. Excellent for hiking in snowy watery trail.

Comfortable and tough
These boots fit the instant I put them on and really are waterproof. I bought them not as hiking boots but for general farm work and we've had a wet spring so there's been lots of opportunity to test the boots. These were size 12 wide and getting boots to fit my wider foot has always been a challenge. These are more than worth the price.

Watch the sizing. US is mixed in with UK
I ordered size 8.5. I needed a half size up from my normal 8 and I could not find that in any shop in the UK so I went online and Amazon had it. When they arrived they were size 8. What? A close inspection of the box revealed that the UK8 is America's 8.5 but the ordering box on the Amazon website made no distinction between UK and US sizing. It simply stated 8 and then 8.5. So now I had to decide whether to return or to keep so the next hour was spent making sure that the lacing was how I needed it to be to accommodate my wide feet while wearing thick socks and eventually I got there. I still have to do a serious hike in the weather that will put them to a real test but I do have better comfort for these than I have had from my previous walking shoes. Not perfect because I wanted 8.5 and 9 would have been too big, but certainly better. Now I will have to replace the laces. They are the round sort rather than flat and round ones always slip so have to be double-bowed. I know the manufacturer thinks this makes them easier to put on and fit snugly but in practice, it means they become loose too easily and get sucked off in the mud. That is really average terrain hiking in the UK. If it had not been for a gift card that had brought the price down for me on this purchase, I would have gone through the returns process. Good enough to keep and use but not my perfect pair of shoes and will not be buying them again unless they really do have a UK8.5wide.
