The LED strips are water proof, but the controller box is not. So if you mount the tubes in a area that can get some water, you must protect the controller box. Can this be used in my home? Yes, simple connect a few wires and make connection from power supply to controller box (provided) and you have light! Instructions! Important please read after you buy: Step 1: Remove parts and lay on table to get a visual of what goes where. Step 2: Remove remote control and remove the plastic battery protector strip. Step 3: Connect Power supply output wires to input wires of controller box. (-minus to the controller box black wire and +plus to the controller box black/white wire. Step 4: Use electrical tape to seal the connection. Step 5: Connect controller box to LED strips. Provided on one end of the LED strip should be a 4 PIN connector. You can plug the connector from controller box TWO WAYS. If you connect it the wrong way the lights won't work, flip if they do not work. Step 6: Test remote function and mount your strips carefully without creating too much of a bend that could damage internal wires of the strip. Quality? We have tested our demo unit on for 2 months straight. No joke. The light is still runing. So we ensure quality.
