I make at least one loaf of sourdough every other day if not more. While my KA artisan isn't really designed for such heavy duty use, this attachment has really kept me in business for a long time with no signs of slowing. Bc of the limitation of the KA and its power, this hook kneads while letting the dough climb rather than push the dough into the bottom of the bottle causing intense strain on the motor. The smaller KAs aren't made to handle this strain with bread/pizza doughs and will prematurely wear/break. With this attachment, the dough is kneaded and it climbs upward so not much strain is generated. The shield prevents the dough from climbing higher and higher, and it usually just drops back down into the bowl so the mixing can continue. When I'm kneading, I also have a stiff spatula to continue to coax the dough down as the hook mixes and moves it up. This continues kneading develops gluten structure perfectly for me and my dough window panes easily with minimal effort.

This dough hook worked great and I'm happy with it, however, be very careful handling it. The dough guard is very sharp. I cut my finger with the first washing. It's sharp enough to slice pizza.

it fits perfectly to my artisan kitchen aide mixer. When the machine is tilted up there is a screw you can twist to adjust the height if the dough hook hits the bottom of the bowl.I would recommend to a friend

I’ve been using the c shaped dough hook on my kitchen aid 4.5 qr mixer unhappily for 25 years. This yr I got this spiral to see if it improved dough mixing. Eureka it does. Initially when I saw that it was shorter I was confused and doubtful but after installing it you’ll see right away how come it works. Buy it, you’ll like it lots.

Bought as a Christmas gift for my partner so it's wrapped and under the tree as of now. Put it on kitchen aid mixer and it fit before wrapping it. Today 12-13-23.I'll update after Christmas

I make my own no knead Artisan bread so I use the dough hook a lot. I bought the correct size replacment hook for the model I have, but it doesn't work as well as the dough hook that came with my mixer. This dough hook leaves flour on the sides constantly so I have to stop it and manually mix in that flour. There's been a couple of times where I've made bread and found chunks of flour that never got mixed in, or I'll find flour stuck to the bottom of bowl.... but even though it's more trouble than the one that came with my mixer, this one is stainless steel which is a plus.

I used it with kitchen aid classic stand mixer and it made good dough cohesive and didn't need to scrape the bottom of the bowl.

Bought a different one first that said it would fit KSM150 but it was too long. This one fits and works great.It also isn't leaded aluminum coated with nylon that wear away !

I was struck by how nice and good quality this product felt right out of the box. The reason I bought it was because the original tool's painting was peeling, so for safety concerns, I purchased this piece that is still intact. It does a really good job for bread dough, cutting the time it would take with the old piece in half. Overall, it's a really good addition to my kitchen.
