Ordered this rod and was pleased with it. Works great with jigging for crappie and a lot of fun with bedding bluegill and shellcrackers. I even caught a 5 pound blue catfish on this rod using a panfish jig. Sensitivity is great, light rod tip with backbone in the butt section. Paired with an UL reel it’s a great rig.This is apparently an older model being phased out and about $10 cheaper on Amazon than the manufacturer’s upgraded or newer version, and with free Prime shipping even though this ships from the manufacturer, not Amazon I went through Amazon for the saving.So I ordered another one in time for a trip to Santee Cooper.Well it never showed up. Then I got notified it didn’t ship. Then I got notified it HAD shipped a day after the due date. Too late for the trip but it was there when I arrived home.Opened the box to find a broom.Yep, I ordered a jigging rod from B&M Pole company through Amazon, and received a push broom in a box.Now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are. Except the humor has quickly worn off.Twice now something has screwed up with this order. I understand mistakes can be made but ordering a fishing rod and expecting delivery on a day promised then finding it didn’t even ship. Then with the second shipping arriving late and receiving a broom is beyond my comprehension.So last chance. I’d give 4 or 5 stars for the rod but -1 for the service from B&M, at least through Amazon.Order at your own risk, who knows maybe you’ll order a rod and get a mop or a golf club.

12 feet jig pole is a little heavy, but lighter than most.

This is a great rod at the best price I've seen anywhere. It's very sensitive and perfectly suited for vertical jigging, but if you're planning on doing some spider rigging or long lining you're probably better off with the B'n'M Pro Staff Trolling Rod, which has more backbone. I have 4 of these jig poles, two 10 footers and two 12 footers. You can use either a small baitcasting reel or a spinning reel. I have mine set up both ways...baitcasters on a 10 and a 12, and spinning reels on the other two. This covers me for about anything I want to do, and I can switch them back and forth very easily. If you're looking for a baitcast reel for these rods, I highly recommend the HT 5500...it's one of the few mini baitcasters out there with a level wind feature.

It is a very good fishing pole. One this long should be 3 piece instead of the 2.
