Very Helpful Introduction
I bought this copy of Lear to help my wife, who has great trouble with Shakespearean English, get familiar with the play before we went to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to see it. Though the translations into contemporary English are, at times, jarring and lacking any sense of the Bard's poetry, the book was very helpful. I recommend the translation to anyone struggling to understand either the language or the play.

Much which was obscure is better illuminated.
Readable (and performable) translation into modern English. Now, much which was obscure is better illuminated.

King Lear Made Simple
This was a great study tool for me. I used along with several other versions we had to use in class. Liked it.

King Lear Modern Translation
Love the fact that the book presents the play in different formats. In one format a paragraph is given in the original Elizabethan English and immediately it presents the same paragrah in contemporary English. It another format the play is just presented in contemporary English. It's proven very useful.

You have to like Shakespeare
Great on Kindle. Read parts to my class. One of Shakespeare's best. Having it on Kindle doesn't go missing. The story basically shows how succession and family values can go so wrong. Read this version and you will understand it.Mt

cheap and cheerful
Page 4, Characters: "Gloucester" is misspelled as "Gloster" 4 times. This is intended for schools and it is quite good. I've been studying this play for pleasure (it's been a long time since I've set foot in a school) and the modern English version is a great help - it doesn't replace the Arden or the York notes even, so it should be used together alongside those study aids. One criticism I'd make is that the paper cover is too thin, this won't last long in a teenager's school bag. And maybe it could be a little shorter and narrower. It's clearly laid out with the original text on the left and the modern version on the right - it's impossible to confuse the two, but anyway, the modern text has been helpfully highlighted.
