Worth every penny
I am about to gush about how much I love this. I am not sponsored, and neither is this review, I just love the brand. If you have never used Kimono silk sewing thread, I cannot recommend it enough. It is stronger than cotton or polyester sew-all (standard 50 weight), even though at 100 weight this thread is much finer. It also sews like a dream, doesn’t snag, produces practically no lint, and tangles far less than standard cotton or poly threads. However, for hand sewing I would still recommend lightly waxing the thread to reduce tangles as hand sewing will always lead to tangles as the thread is handled.$15 for a spool of thread might seem expensive if you are just starting to look into higher quality materials, but it is a fair price and absolutely worth it. Over a thousand yards of thread will last a long time, depending on your projects, and if you look strictly at yardage and price (and ignore quality/fiber content) it is less than 2 cents per yard, which is often what you will pay for standard sew-all’s.If you are new to silk thread, kimono silk (which is just the name of this size/brand) and tire silk/superior threads (the manufacturer/supplier) in general are fantastic. Tons of colors, the most commonly needed thread weights, and easy for US buyers to purchase. If you go to the Superior Threads website you can also get color cards with real thread color swatches as well as samples of the various weights. Super helpful for matching to your projects.

If you do needle turn
This color blends with most color batik fabrics and disappears. Don't go crazy trying to match, use this.

A lot of beautiful, fine thread
I use this thread for mounting delicate artwork for framing, and was pleased to find it on Amazon. This spool will last a long time, and it's much finer that polyester sewing thread. It seems fairly strong for fine silk.

Disappointed in tensile strength of thread
I expected higher strength from this silk thread, used in applique, but broke easily when I pulled on it. Would not recommend for quiltingas it is not likely to hold up to extended wear and tear.
