Magnificent Seven, the (2016) / Silverado - Set

I have the original version of this movie on DVD. Like almost all of the movies I have in my pile of now over 100 DVD’s, this is one of my favorites. When I first saw this movie, I literally STOPPED what I was doing, sat down and watched it from the beginning to the end. Yes, it too is now a part of “my stack” of DVD’s. I later gave a copy of this DVD to my now over 70 year old Godfather. When I handed it to him I said, “You have seen the original. Keep that in mind when you are watching this, but look at this with a different lens.” He did, and he too is now a big fan. Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua are like what Forrest Gump said, “Peas and Carrots.” Truly these 2 are a lethal combination capable of highlighting not only the “known actors’ ” strengths, but the unknown as well.Bill Cosby (yes, I said Bill Cosby) once said, “When you have both good writing, and good actors, you will have a good show.” Combined with the direction of Antoine Faqua, we the viewers get exposed to a “triple threat.” It’s guaranteed to do what has been lost nowadays – entertaining the people. I also like the hidden message at the end of this movie. The 3 races of people affected the most by “the white man,” The Native American, The Hispanic, and The Black man were the only 3 who survived at the end. To the director I say, “Message sent, message received. Keep up the excellent work. And never lose focus of what your gift has been given to do – entertain the people. And if or when possible, make them think."Stay safe, and be blessed….NMA

Movie DVD was in good shape and arrived quick

GREAT MOVIE

Good remake of a classic western. Denzel always delivers. First part of the movie is way over the top but then it settles in to more reasonable pace and plot. Not quite as good as the original but still good. Denzel is as good as Yul Brynner but the supporting cast isn't nearly as good as the original.

Was an awesome movie

Dad loved westerns, and did not this version had come out.Once I knew that, I had to order it for him.He passed away in late November (at age 86), but he really LOVED THIS FILM.I am so happy I was able to have let him enjoy one last western.
