Put to the test
Ok so first off I have to say I haven’t used other brands for large spinning reels. I have 2 Okuma avengers 80D reels I use for off shore and have ran them ragged fishing yellowfin, bluefin, yellowtail and dorados. They held up good but I wanted to upgrade. I decided to go with this reel and am impressed. I took it out hunting blue fin and landed (3) 40-50lbs without issue. The reels is on the heavy side but weight doesn’t bother me. The bail is nice and heavy and the bait feeder is a nice feature. Overall the entire reel functions smoothly. It held ample #40 braid and the drag is very nice. I had reels in the past that sputter and this drag was smooth and gave even pressure for the bait feeder as well. The retrieve was smooth and fast when needed. Overall I’m impressed and plan to upgrade both Avengers to this.

The 8000 is a great reel!
I bought the 8000 to 1st time surf fish. It looked large at first glance. It turned out to be perfect. I landed several 3-4' sharks with no problem. I hooked 2 giants that couldn't be landed. One started pulling like a truck driving away. The drag was screaming! I tightened the drag, so he wouldn't rob all of my line. He broke 80 lb braid. The other took off the same way, and broke my metal leader. The reel performed perfectly. The baitfeeder was flawless and the reel is smooth. The super strong handle provided great leverage and allowed me to quickly reel long casts in.The 8000 reel isnt lightweight, but no reel this big and well made would be. If you want a big, solid, smooth, sturdy beast of a reel at a fair price, this is recommended. It is solid!

Beautiful
Wow for around 100 dollars this is a great reel. The drag click is a little quiet, but that’s not really an issue for me and the grey has a blue glitter in the paint which is really subtle but looks awesome. Very good quality reel

Lasted 2 Seasons
Mine lasted 2 seasons. Then a spring broke and it stopped occillating. Repair shops said it would be too expensive to fix. For the price point, it was a great reel and the bait feeder worked great.

Happy Overall
When I received the reel the part of the main body of the reel that attaches to the reel seat of the rod was broken during shipping. I notified Amazon of this and they sent a replacement out immediately. The replacement arrived in two days, it feels silky smooth and I think it’s going to be a great reel. I haven’t had it offshore fishing yet but hopefully will this upcoming weekend. .

This is a flag ship reel of this brand I think.
This thing is the heaviest of this class of reel I got. I've got 3 heavy duty reels like this: Bait Feeder spinning reels. If I had to guess, this would have been the most expensive, but it's not. Okuma isn't a known brand where I live because mostly people get gear at Walmart or something, but I'm fancy and normal gear isn't going to cut it for the monster catfish and carp I'm after.Okuma is a world class brand and this unit is snazzy for the price.
