Power Electronics is intended to be an introductory text in power electronics, primarily for the undergraduate electrical engineering student. The text is written for some flexibility in the order of the topics. Much of the text includes computer simulation using PSpice as a supplement to analytical circuit solution techniques.

Review: Simple and elegant power electronics circuits - Hart's book manages to give succint and highly useful analysis of power electronics circuits. I use this as a companion to my power electronics course in my EE undergrad. transistors and diodes are treated as ideal for analysis which helps to keep the focus on the overall circuit operation. Still, this does not mean that the derivations and explanations are dumbed down. The book requires a decent grasp of the fundamentals and there is a lot of implied prerequisite knowledge. One should at least have experience in AC circuits, Signals and Systems, Differential Equations, and understand Semiconductors at a decent level. Another plus of the book is that it is smaller than most textbooks in physical size, making it light and portable. The pages also feel and smell very good, and feel strong. Overall this textbook has strongly enriched my knowledge in Power Electronics, but should be read after having a solid foundation in order to appreciate the explanations and math.

An exceptional textbook, highly recommended for any power electronics course. Teaches about circuit design for a number of different power converters. Recommended for anyone interested in circuit design! A good choice if you'll be taking Capstone Design soon!!!
