GillGill New Capri Floating Corner Shelf Oak Wood Effect NEW

I wanted a corner shelf that was 14 inches and most of the ones I looked at were 12 inches (around 30cm) though I liked the style of these as well. The instructions that come with it are useless but you don't really need them, use a bit of cardboard to set up a template to mark out your holes. The bag of screws and wall plugs that come with it are good though I used smaller screws in some cases cos I have hard walls. Nice smooth finish and MDF material which means light weight and that's important.Replaced a corner unit taking up floor space. The design enables me to rout the cable for my tablelamp under the shelf and come through the corner (see pico) and that was important.

Wanted to sit a humidifier on to shelf and it has done the job. It took a long time to just get the 4 screw heads into correct position to sit the shelf onto, but no matter how much I tried it was wobbly until weight put onto shelf. I used the cable trunking to hold shelf in position.Shelf seems of good quality but the fixing needs a bit more engineering as sitting on screw heads is really a lame way of setting up a shelf.

For someone who is not patient or a DIYer this was a total nightmare to install. After having to align screws etc for a few attempts a lot of the veneer broke off, personally wouldn’t buy again but for a person with different skills would haha.

Looks nice and simple in the picture but just doesn’t fix well to the wall. Poorly designed or too big and a pain to get into the wall and make straight.

Bought these to put in my mobile Tea Room, I did add brackets in the end as I wasn’t 100% convinced that the fittings would hold, but they do look nice, good size, I saw a review on here that said you wouldn’t be able to fit anything in it, well I managed to fit a 10lsoup kettle in one snd 20 soup bowls in the other, so I think that’s a reasonable size for a corner shelf

Fitting can be extremely difficult specially if your wall isn't 100% at 90° angle. Once fitted do not seem very sturdy and secure. I'm quite comfortable with most Diy jobs and it took me a considerable amount of time to fit 3 of these. Almost felt sending them back but had a couple of dents done already by screw fitting mechanism when trying to push them into place. Ended by buying brackets to secure and add sturdiness to them.

This shelve is great value for money. It looks really good and is strong enough for just about anything that will fit on it. It also matches our furniture very well.When buying the first one I was unsure what the quality would be like as it was so cheap but I was so impressed I bought a second one for the other corner.
