Not that easy to learn, difficult to master
I bought this as a standalone game to play down the pub.I like the multiple strategic elements and how each game has a great variety of outcomes. The rules can get quite complex and things such as keywords on the cards and how combat (attacking and defending) with more than two cards required a bit if not very straightforward internet research. If you get this pack s a newcomer, bank on a few games where you spend more time checking the rules and you'll need to spend a fair amount of time doing this!A safe bet would be to get a game or two in at your friendly local game store if possible to accelerate this learning process.

Good Entry Point. Balanced Decks
Bought these to try the game out. My friends and I have never played Magic the Gathering, but we were able to pick it up pretty quickly with the help of google and they have a great tutorial on their website. As for the decks themselves I think they are a great entry point into the game. My understanding is that most other decks have multiple colours, making them a little more complex to play, these decks are all one colour and as such are more straight forward, great for newbies like myself and my friends.Balance didn't seem to be an issue, I won every game I played using either deck so, I wouldn't say one is more over powered than the other.Have already bought another duel decks set and looking into buying a load of boosters to make my own deck.

Not for the beginner !!!
Awesome set of cards, but not for the beginner I have since orderd the spell slinger starter set as wanted to play this with my wife who hasn't ever played any games similar so the rules are alot more difficult to use in this pack but if you are familiar with the rules then these are fun to use. Not for the beginner !

Good for beginners
Decent couple of decks. Good for beginners. Been having fun playing against my son. Cards sort of work well together, but not to the level a more seasoned Magic player would like. I had extra cards at home so I was able to create a deck to my liking. This is Modern though now, so if you're looking to play tournaments at your local game store and the like, you may want to look for newer decks.

Good starter product
Really good starter product for me. These were my first Magic the Gathering purchase, and a good introduction for 2 people. The decks are fairly well balanced against each other (although there is a general consensus Ob Nixilis is slightly better, Nissa wins her fair share too). Be prepared to google some of the abilities/ rules if you're brand new, as they aren't all explained on card.Overall the decks have some really fun cards, and you get the 2 Planeswalker cards. Again if you're brand new: not all of the cards are 'Standard legal' meaning you can't necessarily play in a competition with rules on which cards you can use, however for casual play they're great. I added in a few cards to slightly improve the decks too.

Awesome for first time players
This was my first real starter to MTG. My girlfriend is an experienced player and when I spoke to her about starting she suggested a duel deck so she could teach me fairly. Both decks in this set are well balanced so we were easily able to switch which one we were using with no trouble. Ideal for a first time player and the experienced players can still play a game they love while possibly sampling some new cards.

Wife approves!
I bought this product to play with my wife, who has never played MTG. She had seen me on MTGO and always wondered if the game was any fun. We have had a blast with these two decks. Although some comments online say Ob Nixilis is stronger because it has flyers and removal, Nissa has won more games so far. These decks are somewhat balanced, and good for beginners. It's a plus that the art of the cards is fantastic.

They're well made and look great 10/10 on that score
They're well made and look great 10/10 on that score, I'm not totally into the game mode and one deck is slightly stronger than the other (if you're an MTG player I'm sure you'll know what I mean). All said and done, it's not a bad deck to learn to play with but I'd broaden your horizons a little and look for other decks.
