Full of interesting ideas for achieving various effects while painting,, pity the examples have to small to fit the available space as it can be difficult to appreciate the effect being shown.It is a compendium of ideas, it is not an instruction book although there are some worked examples.

If you are starting of in acrylics I would recommend this book.Has alot of information and guides in her for acrylic painting also not just painting. Covers how to make you own pallete and stretching canvas so you can make on your own are just a few practical guides in this book.Besides from that there is a lot of guides on actual paint techniques in step-by-step guides with illustrations.I have learned a lot from this book so far and find it very useful for help.Would recommend it just alone for the actual techniques alone. The book it self is set out in chapters and easy to follow

I found this book helped build my knowledge on how to mix paint and use them in different styles, it's got a handyman guild how to make an easel and many more ways to build on your development in acrylic painting, highly recommend this book.

Great for ideas for a beginner

A good book for a beginner or intermediate painter in acrylics. I had hoped for some more advanced ideas and techniques but the book was still useful, nevertheless. It is well laid out and the instructions are very clear. Good examples are given throughout, so often not the case in 'how to do it' painting manuals.

Having recently retired, I am returning to painting and drawing after a break of nearly 3 decades. I grew up on oil, water colour and gouache, and have never used acrylics before, so was looking for a guide which sets out how this medium is different to the ones I am used to, and how specifically to use acrylics. This book does exactly that. Yes, there are few very obvious tips, and some (such as making my own easel) which I don't need, but overall, I now have a much better understanding of acrylics.What I particularly like is that the step-by-step practical examples are drawn from a range of different artists, so it's not one of those books that teaches you to paint only in the style of the author.
