Bought this for my daughter who has just joined a chess club in primary school (for encouragement). For the money I was expecting better quality.Pros:The natural materials are nice. Wood texture and veneer.The colour and shape of the pieces are pleasant and you can easily identify each pieceThe foam cutouts in the back store each piece for transportNice size and folds in half (hinged across the middle) for transport / storageNice travel pouch made of some hemp materialCons:The black king piece is wonky - the base isn't straight so he stands drunkenly against an invisible lamp postThe magnets are not strong enough to hold the pieces on the board. If you tip the board up the pieces just slide offThere was a scratch going across the board which we noted on unpacking.The clasps annoyingly fold under the board if you move it from one location to another and if you put it on a table could scratch the tableWhen we unpacked it and I saw the scratch I almost packed it back up with a view to starting the returns process, but my daughter was delighted to have a pressie so we ended up keeping it. Had it been for myself it would have gone back.

Bought as a Christmas present by relatives for my son who has recently discovered chess and loves the game... It's a lovely set, small enough to take along anywhere with you but big enough to see every piece clearly and sturdy enough to play anywhere... The fact that is magnetic is a bonus as I found out when I accidentally knocked it slightly during a very tense game, pieces are a decent size and well made and they fit in perfectly making it a lovely neat little chess set.

delightfull in all respects except the catch which keeps the lid shut. That is poor. I changed it ....but I happened to have a sub ... not always going to be the case!!

It's ok for the price, but the pieces are quite roughly made. Some pieces sit slightly lopsided due to a rough finishing on the bottom. The board is handy for travel though (I bring to cafe, or cinema club to play a friend) and the extra queens are a must-have.

Really nice for the money, well made and the magnetic aspects performs excellent.

Arrived quickly and very good quality for the price, compact enough to tuck away but a decent size for actually playing

I WOULD HAVE LIKED IT A BIT BIGGER -- WHEN OPENED , THE BOARD WAS NOT TOTALLY FLAT SO I HAD TO TAPE IT FLAT.

This was a present for my husband, he is very pleased, stylish and well made with strong magnetism and aesthetically pleasing. Good size for travelling
