Replacement Battery for Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd Generation, Generation 3rd, E/T3008US/T4000ES/T3007ES/A0013 TL284443

After five years, the Nest battery would not charge and this causes problems with the functionality of the thermostat. It was a simple fix and only took a few minutes. The price of the replacement battery is way less expensive than buying a new thermostat.

There was no way to tell if the battery was charged or not. Spent 6 hours on the phone with nest and finally told they would send a replacement. After reading reviews on Nest replacement policies, I ordered this battery and still entered the fall without the use of my furnace. I finally went out and bought a 25.00 Honeywell thermostat from Walmart and hooed it up w/out a problem. Wasted money!

The battery works just fine for my nest thermostat 3rd gen, time will tell longevity. The problem was getting the factory installed battery out, it was glued to the unit, I had to use force and I ended up hitting the screen on the table and now there is a crack on the screen. Thankfully it still works. It never goes as easy as the DIY videos you see on YouTube.

Was getting error messages like "no power to Rh wire" on Nest... 4 years old. Saw option for DIY battery replacement, gave it a try, cheaper than a new Nest... installed this and it fixed problem! (Why can't Nest just give an error message saying it needs new battery?) Original Nest battery was really glued in tight, be gentle and patient getting it out, there's a strip at one end to help loosen it. The connector is really tiny, and underneath a little foam compression pad, lifts out. Needed tiny tweezers for some of this, small stuff. Also discovered that there's a rim of oil inside the Nest, to help it turn smoothly, so it can be a bit messy.

I bought this replacement battery because our Nest 3rd Genearning Thermostatkept needing to be manually recharged.This battery came, I followed the video posted to change out the battery (and I'm a pretty handy guy). Once completed the Nest Thermostat would not turn back on, description says battery comes charged, but has instructions to follow if it is not. I followed the charging instructions and still nothing. I eventually put the original battery back in and the AC came back on and I was able to use the app to adjust temp, but the diaplay on the thermostat is now black.Big pain. I don't know how the screen stopped working but it did.I'm wishing I had a regular thermostat and will probably end up getting one because while the nest is cool, I guess, it's come with too many headaches.

The battery looks like it will work, however, they didn't enclose the tool in the box. So I am having difficulty installing it!! No one responded when I emailed the seller. However, I will add that Amazon gave me a refund. They should be reimbursed by the seller.

The effort to replace the battery is tedious. The process involves:1) removing 8 miniature 18 gauge screws (approximately 1/4” in length)2) carefully removing the original battery which is glued to the internal frame.3) reassembling the thermostat, which can be nearly impossible as attempting to reinsert the miniature screws into the threaded slots requires much skill and patience.4) resetting the thermostatI recommend working on a piece of cloth to keep tiny screws (which you will surely drop over and over again) from bounding away and under the kitchen appliances.

I have no idea if this battery was good or not. It was incredibly difficult to install and so I’m not sure it was connected properly. It did not work though. We just bought a cheap Honeywell thermostat instead.
