Nice pack of large, colorful paintbrushes...but what's on the bristeds of the flat-bristle brushes??
This is a good pack of colorful, thick paintbrushes & we haven't used them yet, but I like that they handles on them are thick for children for easy-gripping/holding & that the bristle ends are plentiful & thick as well, unlike all of the other very thin-bristled paintbrushes that come with the washable paint I usually buy for my son.I also noticed like some other reviewers have mentioned how the bristles on the flat bristle brushes are completely stiff/hardened as well. I don't know how well they'll work when my son uses them, but I imagine the bristles will soften up with time getting used with water & paint. I'm guessing that whatever they put onto the bristles, perhaps they did it to keep the bristles stiffly in place so that they don't "splay" apart when a child's painting & will instead keep their shape for some time...I don't know...I've never seen that before with paintbrushes, but it isn't like we own a lot of paintbrushes & this is the first set of large-bristled paintbrushes I've gotten. So I don't know if that's a common thing done to flat-bristled paintbrushes or what.My son is 8, so I have no worries with him putting his fingers into his mouth while painting or putting the paintbrushes into his mouth, but I probably wouldn't want a toddler using those when I wouldn't know what's on the flat-bristled paintbrushes or if it's "non-toxic" or what. So a parent could always give half the pack of paintbrushes to a toddler that doesn't have that stuff on the bristles, & save the flat-end ones for when they're older...or just choose a different set. It should've been noted in the ad that the flat-bristled paintbrushes come like that, just to make customers aware of it, & it should be stated what exactly it is that's on the bristles & why...especially being that these are made for children's use & are labeled in the ad as being for "toddlers" who put things & their fingers into their mouths.

Pretty good
I ordered these for my four year old to use on his art projects. The handle and brush are a great size for small hands. One brush has been shedding bristles so I’m a little concerned with how well these will hold up over time.

these are ok for toddlers
These would be ok for toddler use but nothing fancy. You get 4 round and 4 flat brushes. The flat brushes do need to be washed with warm water to remove the glue on them. These are easy to clean, we have used these a few times now and washed them with soap and water and we haven't had issues with the bristles falling out. They seem to be well made, the handle is perfect for small hands, they are easy to hold and use.

The round brushes are not good
The flat brushes are fine and as expected. The round brushes however, were weirdly shaped and different lengths. They worked fine though but I thought that was very strange. Brushes are large and easy to manipulate for small children

Thick handles are great for little hands or the elderly
These are great project brushes. They are not the most high quality artist brushes, but they are perfect for kids projects and process art.I bought these for both my toddler and elderly relative with dementia to use with water and water painting books. They have been great so far. Both find the wide handles much easier to hold than thin brushes we have tried before. One of our brushes did lose a few bristles, but all the rest have held up well so far.

Colorful Paint Brushes
So, in terms of attractiveness, I love the different color handles on these brushes. The flat brushes come with blue, green, yellow and red handles, and the round paint brushes have handles more in the pastel color spectrum (pink, purple, turquoise, and white). I'm not a connoisseur when it comes to brushes and art, but I was curious as to why the bristles on the flat brushes were so stiff and hard. The round brushes weren't stiff like that. I'm hoping that once dipped in water, the flat brush bristles will relax. I bought this intending it for use by my toddler. The price for eight of these brushes was excellent, so if you have a child who loves to paint, this would be a great set and keep you in business for a while.
