Solid economical docking station

We have replaced the Lenovo brand of docking station with these for our Enterprise environment (regardless of them being labeled as non-commercial). They are economical, and work without the hassle that the Lenovo thunderbolt docks were giving us. A much easier product to deploy and manage.

Works great with 3 monitors and a gaming laptop

My desktop suddenly would not boot, and since it was purchased through a vendor I had to ship it in for repair. I wanted to use my gaming laptop that I take while traveling (MSI Cyborg 14 A13V) as a desktop in the meantime, so I looked into different Thunderbolt 4 docking stations.I settled for the Anker 778 since it was $200 on Prime Day. Received it, and everything is working great out of the box, plug-and-play. I have 3 27" monitors hooked up, keyboard, mouse, microphone and webcam. So far no power issues, and I can boot up games with no issue. One thing to note is that while I have a 1440p 144hz monitor, through the dock it only allows me to bump it up to 120hz which isn't a dealbreaker for me.All in all, I would recommend this dock.

Chinese Junk - Destined for Trash Bin

A wonderful paperweight. Useless crap otherwise and despicably overpriced.Compatibility Issues: It doesn’t play well with my $400 KVM switch, only managing to turn on a single monitor.Poor Display Performance: The HDR at 144Hz is flickery and unreliable, making it unsuitable for high-quality displays.USB Charging Problems: The USB ports are ineffective at charging devices.Awkward Design: The port layout is bizarre, with display ports and USB ports oddly spaced out, wasting space in the middle.Terrible Support: Support is useless; drivers and firmware don’t update, and the software is worse than malware.Questionable Origin: It's produced by a disreputable Chinese company.

Feature-Packed Docking Station, but Limited Mac Support Without Tweaks

The media could not be loaded. The Anker 778 Thunderbolt Docking Station is a great option for power users looking for a versatile and high-performance hub. With its 12-in-1 design, 40 Gbps transfer speeds, max 100W charging, and support for a single 8K or quad 4K displays, it offers robust functionality. The six USB ports and Ethernet connectivity make multitasking seamless, and it works great with Windows PCs right out of the box. However, I was a bit disappointed when I first used it with my Mac. It didn’t offer the same seamless functionality as with my Windows PC, which felt like a letdown given the price. Additionally, it tends to run warm during extended use. That said, after plugging in a second cable to my Mac, I now have full functionality, and it performs well with both setups.Overall, while it’s expensive and requires some adjustments for Mac users, it’s still a solid investment for professionals needing a reliable, high-capacity docking station. It works exceptionally well with Windows and, with a bit of tweaking, can deliver great results for Mac users too.

Great Dock

Great dock. I've been looking for one for a while. This checked all the boxes. I would recommend it. My only gripe is it does not have a non usb-c port on the front.

Great Multi Monitor Thunderbolt Dock

I bought this dock when it was released. It supports multiple monitors, I use mine with two 34" gaming monitors. I also use the USB A ports for the peripherals that need to plug into my laptop. THe performance has been flawless.

No Bueno for M-Series Macs with Sequoia OS

I'll start by saying that I am a big fan of Anker products. These guys are still my go-to source for all things charging. However, I am sorely disappointed in the 778 dock.Like other Anker products I own, the design and build quality of this productn is top notch. The performance has been impressive – that is until now. After the recent Sequoia MacOS update, the HDMI and Display Port connections started behaving strangely. The first thing I noticed was random flickering on the screen. Initially, I thought the culprit was the dynamic wallpaper I had selected. But soon after, the video signal began to intermittently cut out, causing my display to go black for a few seconds at a time. That repeated every few minutes or so.I then bypassed the docking station, connecting the HDMI cable from the display, directly to my Mac. The video issue vanished. That was when I decided to call Anker support. The rep I spoke to was very polite, but informed me the 778 was not compatible with M-series Macs. Odd, considering the my M3 Pro Macbook had been working flawlessly with the dock for six months. A few days later, I was excited to see a new 778 firmware update was available. Unfortunately it has not solved the issue. So, with is particular product, Anker has broken my heart. Perhaps there will be a future update to restore compatibility but, at this point, I cannot tolerate the random loss of video. To be fair, I will say that my Windows 11-based Thunderbolt laptop for work continues to work just fine with the 778 dock. If you're looking at this device for a modern Windows computer, you will likely not encounter any issues. Before I ditch this $300 dock for another, I would love it if someone from Anker would chime in here to assure me a firmware fix is in progress. However, I did not get that assurance from the phone support staff.

Disappointing but acceptable

It worked great initially. However, the HDMI function stopped working after about a year, starting with signal degrading all the way to not working at all. Their customer care did try to fix it with me, so that's a strong plus. I stopped, though, at shipping the entire unit back to them to diagnose; it was just too much hassle. I'm still using it as a USB hub and a charger, which I guess is OK. I can't call it a winner, though.
