Looks and feels handmade. This new glass collection is indeed machine-made using the latest cutting-edge technologies and is a true precision tool. Wine lovers around the world understand that Riedel wine glasses are developed in different shapes and sizes for specific grape varieties. Only such advanced machine manufacturing can guarantee such a precise glass design language that is consistent with the respective profile of the grape variety. All new but Riedel fans may see a resemblance to the Extreme Glass Collection, the first machine-made, diamond-shaped glasses (2000) designed by Georg J. Riedel specifically for New World wines. The collection derives its name from the extreme angles of the diamond shape, giving the wine more space in the glass to bring out the full flavors of the wine. In recognition of the development of modern wines, the Riedel family has adapted the glass shapes for Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling after an intense new round of comparative tastings. RIEDEL Veloce is an impressive development based on the latest technology. The glass is higher than the extreme and has a thinner stem and finer bowls. A specially developed machine in Riedel's Weiden factory allows us to draw stems that are handmade by a master glassmaker. The base, with a diameter of 100 mm, is a new standard for large glass shapes and is the maximum that can be machine-made.
