You need to there when all the water is sucked out or you will ruin the motor according to instructions.

Super simple to set up and works tirelessly
The biggest challenge with purchasing a Sump Pump, is understanding how much power it will have to push water through a longer pipe. This is not a specific issue to this product, but I wish I had done more research on the 'head' value to understand the right strength pump to purchase.This one does the job well and continuously (run it about 9 hours a day for multiple days in a row without issue.). The attachments allow for connecting to a home water hose and it has the strength to push it a good distance.
