Cool but expensive toy ... best for kids or collectors?
As a child of the 1980's, I grew up playing with the first generation of MOTU figures. Two-Bad was one of my all-time favorites because with the two heads/bodies blended into one figure, it was like getting a couple figures for the price of one.Today's MOTU figures tend to have more animae style features than action figure style features. This series is a bit cartoon-ish in comparison with the originals, however, this Two Bad is not quite as deviated from the original character concept. At $34 per figure, I do wonder whom its intended for ... kids or collectors? An action figure this expensive might not be your standard toy. This one is articulated in 30 places, so it poses very well compared to other series of MOTU over the years. It seems taller than past figures, so I am guessing collectors would love it.The issue is the clear plastic scratches easily ... and the way the box is designed, the corners damage easily as well. 3 of the 4 corners were slightly torn on my box. MOTU packaging needs to improve ... an outer sleeve might protect the box better.Overall, its a pretty expensive figure but high quality. I do prefer retro-remakes with exact details (such as the Commemorative Series) but for fans of the series looking to give their kids the toys they played with growing up ... or collectors, the value isn't great on this but the quality is good.
