I purchased this product to fill the window frame around my Midea air-conditioner, since I would not be able to fully pull my window shade down after installation, and to act as a noise dampener for the motor of the air conditioner that sits outside the window. The noise damping is almost perfect, with very little ambient noise from the unit. It is a very thick and medium dense foam. However, if you are looking for a perfectly flat sheet of foam, please be aware that this form is shipped in such a way that you will have some creasing.

Our new house had a dishwasher with no sound insulation and was noisy. Pulled it out, wrapped it with this foam, and reinstalled. Made a huge improvement. Not perfect (denser, heavier foam or felt may have been ideal, but for the price this did the trick). We can now run the dishwasher without noise pollution thru the house. I had to use duct tape to hold the foam in place as shown but that is simple common sense. Nice foam and nice result.

The foam was thinner than I was expecting due to the picture. Couldn't be bothered to read a description on the thickness. It ended up working great though. Easy to cut and dense enough to feel secure.

Just what I needed thanks

I bought this foam to line the inside of a musical instrument case. It came folded multiple times and compressed so much that at first I thought it would be useless. Decided to give it a couple days, and it did start to expand. I read it might take 24-48 hours to resume normal configuration. Now it has been a week. Probably 80% of the foam looks relatively normal. There will probably be enough for the project. As the hassle factor of return and finding something else is high, I will use it.I expected it to come rolled up, no compressed all to heck. I get that shipping is volume based these days, but really, had I been on a schedule with this project, the foam would have been unusable.

I bought 10 of the flat 1" and 2" pads to line some crates with. When they arrived they were tightly compressed into bricks. I unwrapped one and it was flat as a pancake. I left it out for 24 hours and when I came back it had barely changed. Maybe if I left it out for a whole week it would eventually reform to it's original size but I didn't have time for that.I ended up going to a local store where they sell shipping supplies and bought THE EXACT SAME THING FOR HALF THE PRICE. On Amazon I spent over $300 on this stuff. When I bought these from my local store I spent around $150 and got material that I could actually use. The Amazon packaging has a logo that says "spend less, smile more" which is a joke considering how overpriced these pads were.The return process was a real pain. I requested a pick-up but UPS kept coming after my business was closed and I had to navigate through the Amazon customer support maze to get a callback from a representative then wait on hold for 10 min while they re-enter the pick-up request. This happened two times. It took over two weeks to actually get these boxes picked up. Who knows how long it will be until I actually get refunded.Moral of the story: buy products from local stores whenever possible.
