I am looking for a substitute. Meatball mix because tempo is no longer being produced. Thought I’d try this, but it didn’t hit the mark. Made meatball subs but my husband did not care for them.

This review is for Southern Living Chicken Parmesan Seasoning Mix, 1.4 oz. Box says: Fast. Easy. Delish., serves 4. Ingredients: bread crumbs (enriched wheat flour, water, high fructose corn syrup, yeast, soybean oil, salt), minced onion, salt, Parmesan cheese (whey, maltodextrin, buttermilk, natural Parmesan cheese flavor and salt) and Italian seasoning. This product contains unhealthy HFCS and does not contain Parmesan cheese at all - the ingredient listed as "Parmesan cheese" appears to be a Parmesan cheese FLAVORED powder. It would have been preferable and not difficult for the manufacturer to select real ingredients. The bag of dipping crumbs is very finely ground and very small, 1.4 oz, approx. 1/4 cup, so it is not a good value at selling price of just under ten dollars and it only makes 4 servings. Competitive seasoning mixes are sold at much lower cost. Or you could buy full size packages of all of the ingredients (using the superior panko instead, Italian seasoning, small package of Parmesan cheese) for approximately the same price. That said, the Southern Living mix tastes fine and is convenient, so may serve a purpose.
