Garmin's small but complete cycling computer
I have been using Garmin computers forever. This generation is improved with the latest technology, only some of which I routinely use. But I like the volume of information it provides. I thought I would not like the touch screen, but I was wrong. I also have a Garmin 1040, but it is too large to fit well on some of my bikes. This one is easier to mount as it winds up sideways. Still easy to view.

Garmin 840 from a beginner
Amazing product, thinking about getting a Garmin watch to track more fitness goals. The maps are reliable easy to use awesome screen size with easy navigation and mounting it on the bikes cockpit was a breeze.

Good replacement for a 510, short battery life with high screen brightness.
I bought this as a replacement for my Garmin 510 which finally broke after 10 years. The 840 has a very good color screen. It has a touch screen as well as side buttons. It has all the functions of the 510 and then some. I only use the basic functions. In order to see the screen in daylight on my bike, I have to turn the screen brightness all the way up. A downside to doing this is the battery then only lasts 3-4 rides. I've already had it die on me during a ride. The 510 used to last 12+ rides.I rate it 3-4 stars because of needing to turn up the brightness which results in only a few rides being recorded before a recharge.

Great upgrade for a Garmin 830
I loved my Garmin 830 until it was stolen. However, that was motivation to try the Garmin 840--which has touch screen functionality AND button functions. That is a game changer. There are also more useful (not just more for more) features and is easier to read. The one thing that Garmin got wrong (relative to the 830 interface) is a "Profile" requires all kinds of shenanigans to rename/re-label, while the 830 was much easier to add multiple bikes with individual names.

Terrible interface
The user interface on this product is confusing at best and horrible at worst. Users of other Garmin bike computers were unable to help me. On the rare occasions I was able to download a route and get started, the app would randomly cease following the route. If the window for returns had not closed already, I would return it.

Buy it...
I've had this thing for a year now and would definitely buy it again! Great bike computer, Battery last forever, great metrics--a little overkill for what I need but still nice to have. Climb pro is awesome.
