Lesson Learned!
I plugged it in while it was still wound up, just to get a feel for how it would get. using it underneath my solar panels to melt snow in the winter... It all quickly melted together into one big lump and started smoking

Found what I was looking for
I had the heat tape installed in July. Will have to wait till winter to see how it works.

Heated cable
Nice to get long cord. Does not get hot, but us warm to touch. Keeps gutters from freezing. I paired mine with frost king sensor, turns on when needed with sensor.

Fairly easy to install
Just finished installing with thermostat. Can't write a full review because its only Fall. Just make sure you measure so you have enough cable. I did approx 12' of roof in the triangle config. they recommend and put it inside gutter and ran to bottom of downspout. This took all 100'... here's hoping that it will take care of ice dam over my kitchen and the thermostat works....There was more than enough supplied clips for this to.Update 12/12 Like an idiot I forgot to plug cable into outlet. It recently snowed about 24" in my area. I then plugged in and a couple days later the snow melted on roof. Now I have it plugged in with thermostat so should keep roof clear in that area. Although it is not recommended I got another length and wrapped it inside my outdoor cat house and since the cable does not get over 50 degrees it won't harm the cat and he stays much warmer inside. Just thinking "inside the box"

Complicated. . . . ahem
HEATIT - HIRD - 30-ft. received it 3 days early. This is NOT some "Saturday-afternoon" installation project. Mine was purchased for gutter-downspout, primarily DOWNSPOUT issues, but instructions are very specific about plug-in/GFCI(?) installation requirements and "extension-cord" anomalies. . . . I un-curled the cable in the "cold" garage, plugged it in, and it began to heat-up, indicating proper operation. Not suitable for installation during "cold-iced-snowed-up-already-iced-dammed-situations" . . Best installed during warm weather, requiring careful planning/measuring, running of cable, clipping, and clamping to avoid over-lapping and potential "issues." Clips & clamps all seem to be there/included, but I think I'll wait for more favorable weather (Wyoming, ya know?) for installation (ladders, clamps, running cable, overlaps, plug-in, drainage,) to install. Product appears to be of high quality, but installation requires MUCH careful planning. Prior access to instructions (PDF, owners manual, etc.) would be VERY helpful. Updates as I can. . . . $32.99

Easy Installation on Shallow-Grade TPO Roof
Roof is a gently graded (not steep) TPO material. Used white "duck-tape" to secure clips to roof, after thorough cleaning and drying. Clipped front edge to gutter leading-edge. Recommend laying out the cable on driveway or other warm surface to remove curls/kinks, at least 1-hr before installation, and of course test it first to ensure it's warm to the touch within a few minutes. (comes out of the box coiled up).

Don't buy the bundle
I bought this as an offered bundle with a package of clips. There are already clips that come with the heat tape.

Roofing contractor approved!
Great cables and gets the job done. It will heat up little channels in the gutter so water can flow and drain. I just installed 3000 liner feet of this cable and the only issue is you have to unwind it properly (unwind it all and lay out flat before install) or you get one big tangled ball.Note: Roofing contractor advice, heat lines do not correct the initial issue of ice damming,it helps relieve minimal amounts of ice. Ice damming is caused by improper air flow in the attic.

Parfait+++

Saved my roof!
Not cheap BUT saved me from replacing my roof due to ice damning. It did the trick, beautifully. But beware that electricity cost will jump significantly. Had the cables plugged in from December through March. Electricity went up $50/month each of those months. Still better than replacing a roof!

Did the trick.
One of my gutters always freezes in the winter, probably because it’s on the shady side of the house. When the warmer temps come, water always spills over the edge of the gutter. I installed this last winter and plugged it on the morning when temperatures were heading above zero and it thawed the gutter and downspout just enough to allow the water to flow. What a difference, no fuss no muss. I only plugged it in when needed. Hopefully it’ll still be working when I plug it in this winter!
