Mom is happy with her new phone!
This phone is what I need it for my mom who is an elderly person. It's easy to use, small in size and very lightweight, has big numbers on the keypad and screen which is a must for elderly people. The charging crudle is a nice and convenient feature. The only problem is that I could not find a way to change the deafult ring tone. Overall, my mom is happy with this phone.

Issue activating phone- everyone should read
Just got a phone for my dad to use. the package came with a speedtalk mobile SIM but since i am a tmobile user, i just got another line activated. after putting the tmobile sim card into the ushining phone, i got a momentary connection...left the tmobile store thinking i am all set...only to notice that the phone lost the sim card connection / setting after 10 min...and displayed "only emergency calls only". go back to the tmobile store and the store guy gives another sim to try. same story. the package included a cheat sheet that said that i could put the new sim into another working phone , pick up the settings and put it back into the ushining phone to have it pick up the settings. tried that and it didnt work.so now i am helpless. i decide to try to speedtalk. create an account and activate the SIM. inserted the speedtalk SIM into the phone but speedtalk's instructions say that I need to update the access point name (APN) setttings. the ushining phone does not say how to change the APN settings. FYI- I am a super tech savvy guy. so while i see the option"network connections" in settings - i dont know what next to do. chat with a speedtalk rep and they say they cannot help and i need to contact ushining to learn how to update APN settings. But where is the contact information for ushining? i dont see any mention in the manual and box.can someone help?really frustrating experience. i wanted to share this with everybody. i dont know how others got this to work.

Father very happy
Wanted to save Pop some money by putting him on my Cricket family account. He had been using a Jitterbug. Great Call's phones can't be used with another service. They are hosted by Verizon. These phones are on an old system (CMDA) that is being phased out and I note that Great Call has not informed their customers yet that they will have to purchase new phones next year. Looked at all the "senior" type phones available and this comes the closest to what he had. So far, it works great and he is very happy. He can read the text and the buttons. He doesn't want or need all the apps on a a smart phone, so this was a good purchase for him.

A great "non-smart" phone for people who need one
This phone has done everything you could ask of it. It uses the very inexpensive $5 per month phone plan with excellent reception everywhere we go. The other features on the phone work well such as the radio and the mp3 player. The main reason that we bought it was that we didn't want our oldest child to have a "smart" phone yet but wanted them to have the ability to communicate with us to coordinate after-school activities and to text their friends. But, we didn't want to deal with all the social media drama so this phone was a good option. For all the phones positives, there is 1 downside; the slot that holds the sim-card doesn't hold it very securely so sometimes the card moves a little and cellular service is lost. It takes just a second to put it back where it goes but it is annoying. Other than that, the phone is great!

Shiny paperweight.
If you're looking for simple- this is your phone. But if you are looking for a phone on the go and simple- you can't have both. It's simple and a very nice paperweight. Yet, I've tried multiple times to converse on the phone while walking, and the call drops every time, haha. This phone isn't built very well to be a phone, but on the bright side, it has a great radio! I pick up a radio signal better than a phone call or a text message. And the speaker on this bad boy is great. They missed the mark on the cellular phone concept, but if they shifted their ideas to a better MP3 player with the side features of a poor phone and text-people may be prone to invest in buying it.

Do NOT use SpeedtalkMobile
The Speedtalkmobile plan associated with this phone is a SCAM. It is not at all associated with T-Mobile. I have spent over 10 hours over 3 days and still did not have a working phone. Took phone to T-Mobile and they could not assist. Then, to get our phone number back Speedtalkmobile was charging $10. Finally, I just set it up directly with TMobile since it will not work with Verizon or ATT.Phone is easy to use. Features seem a bit difficult to navigate and radio seems unnecessary for a senior friendly phone.I am not aure why it is so difficult to make a senior friendly phone that can take prepaid SIM or can get a direct service account with the 3 largest carriers.

Devise would not work indoors
Devise would not send or receive calls while in my house. I would have to step outside for the devise to get signal.
