I bought this pen as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The pen worked for a while but then stopped working. I took this opportunity to teach my daughter how to handle customer service issues herself. So my 12yr old, contacted the company's customer service department and informed them she was 12yr old. First off, the level of professionalism of this group was amazing, even speaking to a young person. I, of course, closely monitored what transpired through my email account. The company sent a replacement pen. No questions asked, only asked to return the previous equipment. After receiving the replacement, it instantly failed. After this occurrence, I investigated the pen myself, and could smell a burning smell inside the pen. This led me to believe that the motor had burned up, and to do so right out of the box it had to be the power supply. After emailing customer service about this, they sent a new pen and new power supply immediately, no questions asked. We then sent them back the old equipment and the old power supply for them to test. It was in fact a faulty power supply that caused the issues. The company representative even followed up with me to let me know what they found after testing. The company reps were actually reaching out to us to make sure things were correct, and that we were happy with the product. There were a few times during the process that we actually forgot and the reps reminded us that they wanted to help us. Superb customer service, never dealt with better people.

I’m a huge fan of 3Doodler products - so much that I’ve purchased each pen they have offered. The problem I always had was that their pens used a filament that was hard to justify purchasing for my typical large projects. I’d found a financial balance between using 1.75mm filament pens and 3Doodler 3.0mm filament pens for my large products. The 3doodler pens never let me down. They lasted for years. The many 1.75mm pens with cheaper color options failed me more times I can count. Now the 3Doodler gods have answered my prayers. They have performed the miracle of marrying their reliable technology with the many artistic options of 1.75mm filament. The pen is also compatible with the accessories I purchased over the years. This artist couldn’t be happier! Thank you 3Doodler.

I was stumped on what to get my 11 year old for Christmas. After looking at 3D printers and wood laser engravers, I went with this pen, since it was the least expensive and I wasn't sure if he'd like it. Well, he LOVES it. He was able to pick it up and start using it right away. It did take a bit of trial and error for him to figure out how to control it, but he's been able to make some pretty cool things so far.The problem is that these things break. We've been able to clear any jams/clogs relatively easily, but the first one completely stopped working within a month. Tech support was AMAZING. They responded quickly, gave us some things to try, and ultimately sent out a replacement, which arrived within a few days. Upon getting the old unit back they gave us an update and told us the heating element stopped working, it was a manufacturing defect, nothing we could do to prevent it. The replacement item is also having problems now. I've done some adjustments per the manufacturer, and he's still having problems. This one might have to go back as well.These are really cool when they work, they just aren't made well. And from what I've seen, most 3D pens are the same. Next time I'll spend extra and get something that'll last longer and be a little less frustrating.

Very easy to use and just purely fun. Now some other reviews may say it doesn’t work, but the one I got is fully functional. The plastic runs out a little quickly, but it is easy to get more of, unlike the 3doodler start+. The pen is also suitable for left-handed people (like me). Whenever it jams, one of the strategies in the manual/guide always works. Also, the price is a little high, but it is very sturdy. Also Also, here’s a tip: when you need to connect two parts together put you don’t feel like using more plastic or you ran out of that specific color, use the pen tip. It’s hot, so it can melt the plastic and let it solidify when it’s connected. :)

It's an ok pen, but I don't like how it retracts every time you stop because it adds a good 15sec every time you do, which makes a slow process of sculpting with it even slower.The filament it comes with is about $0.50 worth off a roll.And it didn't come with a clearing tool that is in the manual.There is another that is just a few bucks more that I realized is what most people who sculpt with a 3D pen use. I should have went with that.

So much fun. Great new hobby. Get the silicone building mat too and really open up what you can make. That way you can build structures or go free-hand. It takes a little practice but well worth the time for me. I got this one for my wife as she wanted one too!

When I got the pen my daughter was so excited and it was working perfectly fine. Than she read the instructions and it said when you are done take the filament out and get any left overs so she got the tool and looked at the picture multiple times and it looked like it was all the way in so she did that. The next morning she went to use it and it didn’t work. I went back to Amazon and went to return and they sent me a new one. A few days later it came and she was using it maybe after one hour she got burned bad and than she used a stick of filament and than put the next one in when it ran out and it jammed so she took it out used the tool the right way she thought was better and than she was using it and it happened again now I already ordered another refill which was 40 dollars. there 3Doodler start was the best and I would buy again for my kids. But I will never buy this pen again it’s hard to control and it works for a day and that’s it!
