3M Fine 9089NA Drywall Sanding Screen, 4 3/16in x 11 1/4 in, 2-Sheet Grit, 2 Count

I did not purchase the 3M Fine 9089NA Drywall Sanding Screen for its' intended purpose. I bought it to clean the stains in my toilets. It works. Very light touch, the old stains come right up. It's easy to do, don't rub too hard, the stains from water elements disappears immediately and they don't seem to be coming back either. They probably will, but I have this now to rid them again.

I read a random article on the internet that said to use fine drywall sanding screens and Barkeeper's Friend for hard water stains in the toilet. I am living in a 30yo rental with original fixtures with these stains in every toilet and sink/tub drain. I figured for $5 why not try it since everything else I had tried did nothing.I cut it in 1" strips and tried it with just water to see if it would scratch the porcelain. It did not, and the stains came off in minutes. I didn't even need the Barkeeper's Friend. The next time I use it I will wear gloves though, because it does slowly disintegrate when you use it in water and the particles are tiny and could possibly irritate or maybe get into your skin.I have attached a photo of a tub drain and a toilet where the right side has been cleaned with the screen, and the left side was not so you can see the difference.

*Took the picture half way through so you could see the difference and what I started with. I used a very small 1” x 3” piece and toilet water (no cleaner or pre treatment) and took me less than 10 minutes.I learned about using this stuff to clean porcelain from someone who cleans homes professionally. It feels/is very abrasive, yet DOES NOT scratch the porcelain itself. PS I used ONLY this and the toilet water to clean **NO fancy toilet cleaner or pre treatment of any kind** Wish I’d known about this years ago. Will definitely purchase again but won’t need to for a good while, since I used a tiny 1” x 3” strip for the whole toilet and could’ve gotten away with less.UNRELATED(But also amazing..)Use undiluted vinegar with 1oz dawn dish soap in a spray bottle for your shower cleaner. Leave it on for a bit while you do something else and scum comes right off. No scrubbing. Learned this from the same person and it’s fabulous. You’re welcome.

I recommend using this for cleaning those stubborn calcium stains on porcelain, it works great! Don't worry, it won't scratch it. The hardness of the porcelain is greater than the hardness of this sanding screen.

I bought this for removing water stains from toilets. With a bit of elbow grease, it works well!

I discovered this solution on YouTube and it works. I use these screens for scrubbing off hard water deposits from toilets (I know, I know.....) and it works so I don't have to use harsh chemicals that are invariably bad for our septic and the environment. Works like charm and easy to use.

I had my doubts about using this to clean my my toilets. I have very hard water and I have tried everything to keep toilet rings from forming and to remove them when they do including pumice stones. This worked like magic. I used a small strip of the sandpaper and Barkeepers powder and within 5 minutes my toilet looked like new. You can probably used any cleanser powder because it is the sandpaper that does most of the work. You can actually feel when the bowl is clean because the sandpaper will begin to just glide over the clean surface. And best of all you can get up under the rim and around the curves which are very difficult to clean with a pumice stone. Give it a try you won’t be sorry. The easiest and fastest way to get rid of those nasty hard water rings.

I saw a video where someone used these to buff out hard water stains on their shower and toilet. I just moved into a house with hard water stains in both toilets. It worked on one toilet, but not the other. I guess it depends on how bad the stain is.

I bought this after reading positive comments, I used it to clean the toilet bowl and it seems to be doing the job, but it does need time and perseverance.
