Provencal Interiors: French Country Style in America

Ms Phillips book uses country french design with American high quality. This book is not for the faint-of-wallet. The designs are beautiful, but costly. This is not decorating using local flea market finds as the original country french wss multi-use of humble elements. Many of the pieces used in Ms Phillips book look like they came out of a chateau. BUT. This IS country french decor with an American signature which is wonderful. There are 2 reasons I rated 4stars instead of 5: 1)Lots of pictures in this book to convey design concepts-but more would be better 2)Ways to achieve same look at lower total costs would be appreciated.

Enjoying French country style is my hobby. This book has beautiful illustrations and even a person withoutgreat monetary resources can incorporate some of the ideas in the home. The book is inspiring andpaints a lovely picture of why this particular style is timeless and enduring. Ms. Phillips apparently knowsher "business" and has put together a book to be enjoyed always.

Having bought a few books on the subject now.. I've decided at least for me that good books on this topic are elusive and yet mainly because we are looking for pictures that evoke and stimulate something in our imagination of the perfect provincial home. Really books stand and fall on this. For me this book is something of an exception because whilst they're provincial style American homes, many of the images and ideas feed my insatiable appetite for that untouchable perfect french home. I think if you have a strong sense of what the perfect french home looks like for you, then you'll either love or hate this book.. If you don't, then this book presents some really great ideas on a wide spectrum from doable to impossible to recreate. If this doesn't apply to you, this is a great coffee table book full of eye candy.Enjoy

I love the pictures and descriptions in this book. After reading the negative reviews of this book I guess I don't know true French Provencal decorating. I don't care what anyone calls it, I love the book and will buy more of Betty Lou Phillips' books. It is the kind of book I will go back to again and again. It also gave me a great idea of what to add to my kitchen with the tiles I'm painting for it. Look through the pages and if they look good to you buy the book. You won't be sorry!

Not Provencal, just for nouveaux bourgeoisie in McMansions. I own many books on the topic of Provence, including decorating books. This is department store decorating, where one goes out to purchase at one time all the bibelots.I echo an earlier reviewer. These are not rooms in which to live. And, none of them are very attractive either.The text is the same info one can get in wikipedia or other web sites,Don't buy this one.

To old fashion... we don’t use that kind of decoration anymore.

This is not one of my favorites by Betty Lou Phillips and I have them all. Some now seem to be over lapping with information I already know. She has so many books after all!

この著者の本を買ったのはこれが最初の一冊ですが、大ファンになってしまいました。フレンチインテリアのヒントに満ちた写真が綺麗で、しかも説明もしっかりしてくれているので、とても参考になります。「プロヴァンス風が好きだけれども、カントリーになりすぎるのはちょっと」という方には是非オススメです。

素敵なインテリアの写真がたっぷりで、ため息が出ます。リビング、ダイニング、キッチン（地下のワインセラーもちらっと見えたりして）、ベッドルーム、子供部屋、バスルーム、壁の飾り方や庭までトータルに楽しめます。丸ごとまねするのは無理ですが、細部が参考になります。表紙の写真とはテイストの違う例もありますが、値段とバランス取れていて、私としてはお気に入りです。サブタイトルにフレンチカントリースタイルとありますがエレガンス系カントリーですかね。本当のプロバンスを知らないので、わかりませんが、これってほんとにプロバンス？

表紙カバーのスレ傷が気になりました。海外から届くため仕方がないねでしょうが少々残念でした。

自分の好きなイメージを探して、今まで色々洋書を探しましたが、まさにこれは探していたのもが見つかった感じです。カントリーでもなく、かとてごてごて過ぎもなく、エレガントさとくつろぎ感をあわせ持つフレンチインテリアはとても素敵です。様々なリビングやプロバンスのきれいな色あいのキッチン、ダイニングのテーブルも参考になりますし、コーナーの飾り方や後ろの方に少しベットルームも紹介されていて大満足でした。
