Yoshida Style Ball Jointed Doll Making Guide
K**I
first book
this book has a pretty detailed breakdown of building a unique, individual ball jointed doll. instructions start with a sketch and follow through to a finished doll with attached hair. it also includes a method of making shoes and stockings. the artist's style is hard to describe, but the closest i've worked out is it's a gloomy-semi-industrial-mori-kei style. i think it's pretty, but it may not be pleasing to everyone. there's some interesting tricks the artist uses that i'd like to try. also, these books are in japanese. there's plenty of photos, so it shouldn't be too difficult for non-japanese speakers to work out what's going on.

Great guide!
The book is written in Japanese, I wrote to the editorial group to ask about a translation, but they answered that it was printed in Japanese only. However, it has very detailed pictures that allow you to understand the steps to make a BJD. It doesn't include how to make cast, but prepares you to be able to do it. Every single step is explained and has a photo, including materials, tools, how to make eyes, shoes and socks. It also includes bibliography to improve art anatomy skills which I've found very useful. The level of detail is exquisite and aimed to professional doll making, although amateurs doll makers will deeply enjoy too. Cast making is explained in the 2nd book

A wonderful book for dollmakers.
I'm not Japanese and this was written in Japanese, but it's nothing Google Translate won't be able to help with. I used the camera option in Google Translate to translate to English and was all set. Just looking at the picture instructions you can pretty much gleen what is being done anyway but the words help too especially when you need to figure out the products he is using. A little uncomfortable with the suggestive naked posing of anatomically correct little girl dolls but...that's all I'll say about that. It is a little odd. But for any dollmaker it should be a good addition to your collection.

Amazing
I just got my copy today and it is in excellent condition. The book is very detailed (and yes it's in Japanese) with pictures that help guide people through the process of making a doll. I'm not sure, but I think one review said that he goes over wig making, but that isn't the case. He shows how to add hair directly to the doll so that is seems natural. He does go over shoe making though. All in all, it's a great book to have.

Amazingly detailed and very useful book on the process of making dolls
Amazingly detailed and very useful book on the process of making dolls. Between this book and the second, they cover detailed steps with photos and material recommendations for everything from single and double jointed doll designing, sculpting, joint engineering, and casting, to making eyes and shoes and even adding hair. The fact that the book is in Japanese is the only downside, an English version of this book would be great and probably sell very well.

Simply wow
Yes, the book is in Japanese, but there is still enough information to create a doll of your own. I have yet to create mine as I need to work on the design I want, but this book gives me the guidelines I need to start as well as finish. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who looks to make their own masterpiece.

素人でも分かりやすい
いつか自分で1から人形を作ってみたくて、この本を買いました。素人でも分かりやすく、内容が濃いものだと感じました。ただ、最後の工程が靴作りなのは?でしたが、流れを知ることが出来て満足です。
